Default Engine angle help

Im installing an LY6/T56 in a 69 C10 pickup. Going to run a 770 street avenger carb. I have the engine mocked up in the frame. I was working on setting the angle and figuring out the trans mount last night. I planned to level the carb, but I see that my intake has 0 degree carb angle, so to level the carb would mean I would level the engine. I don't think this is the right approach as I should need a downward angle at the tailshaft.

Whats the best way to tackle this?

I used a level and an inclinometer on the crank pulley to set mine at 2 degrees.

Because I wanted to run a 2 degree pinion angle and I wanted the engine and trans on the same plane. I have an independent rear end tho.

You carb or EFI? Will I have an issue with the carb at an angle?

Efi. Shouldn't have a problem with the carb.

Have a read through this.

I know it about "ride height" but there's good info about engine and pinion angle.

Most Carb Intakes have some angle built into the Carb mounting pad.. I looked at the Edelbrock site for there Performer RPM and with a straight edge on the carb pad.. the front of the intake should be 4.5" and the back of the intake is 5.4".. with those measurments.. the Carb pad should be at an angle to a level engine.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_..._rpm-ls1.shtml

So. .what intake are you using ?.. has someone machined the carb pad ? (Picture)

You need to match the angle of the motor and the differential pinion or you could get driveline vibrations. The absolute tilt of the engine doesn't matter (within reason of course). Carbs work just fine going up and down hills. So measure your diff pinion angle with the truck sitting at a normal ride height then set the engine tilt to cancel that out.

The Edelbrock Vic Jr .. has the following measurment on carb angle..(from there site)

A-6.07", B-6.07"; Carb pad height: 6.07"

So yeah.. the carb would sit level with the engine crank / Trans output shaft lines .

I have my engine set to 2* down and pinion 2* up, mainly to keep the trans entirely above the bottoms of the subframe rails, but I also have a 4link which easily allows me to match the pinion angle to whatever I decide the engine angle should be.

Definitely #1 priority should be getting the engine & pinion angles as close to the same as possible, depending what rear end you have (multi-link or leafs with angled shims) and then finding a carbed intake with a somewhat close angled pad, altho that's really not as critical.
