23*SBC vs LS motor mount position.
Are the locations of the motor mounts different on a 23*SBC and a LS Engine. Might be a stupid question but i'm doing a swap and wanna find out before i do all the work to drop the engine in and find out i need a new k-member.
This is with 1" set back, plenty of room near the firewall and a lot more room for fans and what not up front.

room up front

I did need a 1/2" shorter driveshaft so without the 1" setback you could probably use the stock one. Maybe buy some of those slotted conversion plates that allow you to set it at about 1/2" or so. Your choice. So, either 1" set back or no set back or in between. Something else won't fit right.
The difference is in the rear of the engine. The Flange where the bell housing connects to the engine has been shorten. In order for GM to install these engines into smaller and tighter engine bays.. things got small..
Anyway.. that is why if you want to keep the Transmission in its original location, you have to move the engine back 1" to meet the Bell housing.. else you move the trans forward 1"
