Need some help on ls1 to 700r4 in a 93 z28
I know this has been posted several times but i thought i would ask for some help pertaing to my specific setup, and some help with automatic transmissions in general.
Some background on this build is i have a 93 z from when i was in high school a couple of years ago. The lt1 went south i bought a 02 ss and the z has been sitting ever since. I really got into building engines specificly the lsx series when i build my ss with an 04 ls6 block forged internals AFR heads and a pt76gts. but ive decided to go bigger with the ss so i bought a 2000 lq4 and a callies and wiesco rotating assebly for it. But back to the z28 the ls6 block out of the ss and a bunch of the stock pull off parts like crank, rockers, and some other stuff from the lq4 are going towards building a stock bottom end ls1 with a set of milled and 5 angle valve job 853 heads and some stock ls1 pistons and rods off of here.
What i need help with is i plan on going with something like a torquer v.3 so i know ill need a converter but there inlies the problem i have never messed with automatics and know virtually nothing about them. what do i need?
some of my questions are. whats a good 3500 stall converter? do i need one with lock up? what is lock up? is it a special converter for 700r4 to ls1?
from doing some research i know itll bolt up to the ls1 with 5 out of 6 bolts and that i need some special flex plate or something and that i need some way to connect the kick down harness
thanks for all your help guys
brek

700R4 to a LS1 You can order a custom converter for that application or purchase a crank spacer and use the existing 700R4 converter you will have to hollow out the flywheel just a tad.
If you prefer, we can call you personally, just e-mail us your phone number.
All our transmissions are very strong and reliable, and can be used for everyday driving. Extended warranties are also available.
Thank You,

Thank you for your help!
So basically all I need is the flywheel spacer and the regular lt1 700r4 stall of my choice?
Also where can I get a piece to addapt the kick down cable?

Why even mess with the 700r4? Especially when the 4L60E's are a dime a dozen and sell for cheap. This will save you a lot of headaches and $. Heres what I would do...
1. Sell the 700r4 and use that money to purchase a 4L60E and a case of beer
2. Find a converter of your liking for the 4L60E and use your stock flywheel
3. Open a beer and toast yourself for making such a wise decision

I like the way you think, ima buy a few cases of beer no matter what lol
I couldn't find one on here for less than 500 plus shipping. I'd love to go 4l60e if I could somehow sell the 700r4 to offset the cost. How much do the 700s sell for?

I found a 4l60e close to me on Craigslist the add states that it is a 2wd 4l60e and that it was left to him and he doesn't know anything about it other than its basically "brand new" he wants 300 obo so it's a pretty good deal
Now my questions are is there any way to verify if its in good working order and that it is in fact a 4l60e?
Can I turn the input shaft and it turn the tail shaft? I don't know much about autos. And will it say 4l60e on the casing?

still curious about the 4l60e...
ive got a buddy with a engine harness from an 2000 a4 ta and i have a harness and computer from a 2000 silverado. i know im going to be using the computer but not sure which harness would be better to use i will be using the truck accesories but using a ls1 intake fuel rails and injectors.
so should i rewire the truck harness for ls1 injectors or use the ls1 harness and reroute the wires for the truck accesories?
