#23
the good thing about the ctsv pan is that is for 6 1/2 quarts of oil . i fill it with water and it will hold about 8 to the top. which i think its safe to use 7.
unlike all the rest that take 5 to 5 1/2

Yeah, the Holley unit will hold 5.5 quarts, which is fine for a cruiser. I'll be honest, I raced NASCAR late models for several years with built dry sump engines, and I'll not miss having to buy cases of oil, so the 5.5 quart deal is ok by me. The price of GOOD oil is ridiculous.
As far as the dipstick, I'm hoping to use my ly6 stick with a mod. I'm almost there. Finishing up my chassis right now, and then we will jump on the engine. It fit well during mockup.
The Holley pan kit comes with the pan, pickup, baffle, new o-ring, plug, and the block-off plate if you don't run a cooler. It does not come with a gasket, but a lot of guys just re-use the stock gasket. This is the same kit sumitt sells for $399.

the tybe is the dipstick tube. and the deflector is the windage tray.
ill try to get some pics of what comes in the box, sometime tomorrow.
now if any one can help me. im deciding on what motor to use. i got all i need minus motor intake and coil packs.. i got the e67 ecm and the harness has been ordered with all the sensors. im trying to decide between the lsx376 or a build motor using the lsx376 block. any suggestions.?

Will the CTS V pan fit a 1st gen Camaro too? I know the A body has a little more room than an F or X body.
I've got an H3 on the 416 that will fit all my cars, but I want something shorter for the turbo LQ4 I'm collecting parts for.

Thanks Chvz, I went ahead and ordered it last night. Do you already own a LSX block or are you trying to decide what to get? What kind of vehicle is it going in and what will it be used for. A good friend of mine just put an LQ9 with L92 heads together and a mild cam for his Chevelle. Great around town cruiser but those heads really flow at the top end. My C5 had a bit of trouble walking away from him...initially.

Hmmm, so you are working on a turbo project as well eh, glad to have you on board brother. I know for sure that the V pan will fit, and I like the fact that if I mess it up, its only $150 to fix it and not $300+. You may want to look into the F-body pans as well, depending on what mounts you use and where they are, it should clear and its almost an 1" shallower. Not looking forward to drilling my brand new pan for the oil drain, but its needed...lol

i think im too late to go that route . im deciding between the lsx376 or a build motor using the lsx block.
the lsx376 is about 5500. which i can build a forged motor for around the same i just dont know where to have it put togheter,
