Default 5.3 in 56 F100 Active Fuel Management Questions

Ok, so i found a 5.3/4L60E from a guy on craigslist and he says he thinks it is out of a newer body style 2007 GMC Truck. (He bought it for a swap that he never did...or at least that's the story) I will be putting it in a 56 Ford F100 for my father in law. Were going for more of a fuel economy build more than anything.... My question is.... will I be able to get the Active Fuel Management to work or will it just cause me problems? Do I need anything special to make it work other than the PCM from the donor truck? Also, how can I tell if this motor I plan on picking up tomorrow even has active fuel management? Thanks everyone. Keane

P.S. I know everyone like pics and videos so here is the truck. He has had it for 30+ years and it has been in the garage since 1995. He wants to leave it just like it is and just throw a 5.3 in it....

The easiest way to visually tell if the motor has AFM/DOD is to look at the back of the motor on top of the valley cover there will be a 4 or 5 pin connector for the AFM solenoids. If there is no connector then it isn't DOD.

To make AFM functional on a conversion you should call John at Speartech. As far as I know they are the only ones supporting a functional AFM/DOD conversion.

Thanks! I checked out their site and I see what your saying about the connector on the valley cover..... Thanks again..... I've made my own harness before from a stock LS1 harness for my LS1/T56 in my 70 Camaro. Could i just use the stock wiring harness from this 5.3 instead of buying a speartech one? I dont see why the AFM/DOD wouldnt work with the stock harness, right? Or is there some other gadget that they add to make it work? Thanks

Some cars use fuel level signals and wheel speed signals. I don't really komw if that one does.

Well change of events.... My buddy decided to sell his c10 project so i picked up his 2006 5.3/4l60e with LS1 Intake and accessories and PSI Harness, PSI Computer, 5 pin MAF, and Walbro 255 fuel pump for 1200 bucks.... I think he gave me a good deal.
