Electric Fans 1 or 2?

Electric Fans 1 or 2? Is it nessesary to run a two fan electric setup or will a single electric setup work? Im planing on running an LQ4 in a 71 Nova. Also, is there any sugguestions on fans to use from junk yard cars?

I am using a used single fan setup from a PT Cruiser because it was free. It had the wiring and relays attached to it and my 4.8 never goes over 190*f. It is however connecter to ign on and not a sensor as the truck PCM has no provision for electric fan.
No. not really. But it help to have the fan cover as much of the Radiator as possible. If you Radiator is pretty square in shape.. a Large Round one will cover a good part of it. But if it is retangular in shape. two smaller one might cover more area of the Radiator.
Many that require high cooling.. have use Taurus fan. They pull a lot of air, but have a very high electrical load and can be somewhat noisy.
I have just fitted an 02' Z28 Camaro LS1 engine,trans with the Radiator and Fan to my 71 Nova. I had to open up the left side of the Radiator support some, but otherwise it fit ok. I wired up the Fan as stock and the PCM is controlling the fans.
Some fans can be controlled for two speed and some not. That is a feature you might consider when looking for a JunkYard setup.

Chances are all you will need is a single fan running at low speed only. That is what I have, a two speed Taurus fan with only the low speed hooked up. Never needed more.
From years of reading posts I can tell you LS swaps don't seem to be difficult to cool. Using modern, more efficient aluminum radiators might be one difference, but even guys running stock brass radiators don't seem to need too much fan.

I'm using my old radiator and Windstar fans. The fans are different sizes which cuts down on noise and I've never had an overheating issue. From what I understand these motors are designed to run rather though for emissions purposes (at least that is what I've read).
I've got a windstar fan you can have if you pay for the shipping from 02451. I was going to use it in my 69 GTO but decided to use an 99 f-body radiator, and the fan is too big for that.
From all that I read, if you're using the older radiator, grab a windstar or taurus fan.

Running aluminum radiator with single fan in 69 Camaro ls1. The thermostat is 195 degree on the highway it run at 170. In town it might get to 195. The fan rarely turns on. One thing I noticed is I have both fans programmed to run but I only had one relay wired up for fan1 this seta code for fan 2 in the computer. If you are only running one fan and the computer have the other fan turned off or hook it up to a second fan relay to avoid this
