LT1 - http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm
LS1 - http://www.lt1swap.com/ls1_wiring_ha...connectors.htm
Also, how come every hardtop LT1 I ever see is black?

Connect the corresponding wires together, for that, you will need the pinout diagrams.

What we did was attach the individual wires together and just scrapped the factory connectors. Anything that was not used we just capped off. I don't know what the actuators are but we jut ignored anything that wasn't vital to run.
You can switch the wires around if you still want to use connectors though. Just make sure everything is labeled.

SHbox site is great for figuring everything out, take your time and you can handle it. I would say swap the fuel tank and fuel lines from the 98 into the 97. I did this swap for a friends 96 Z28 but the harness was from a 2001 LS1. It took me about 20 - 24 hours of wiring since it was my first time ever really doing the wiring. From what I remember 98 to 97 are very similar, the 5v reference I just left out and did not wire into anything. I re-pinned and personally that is my preferred way to go, plus I cleaned up all connections and terminals by soldering them and any crap wire I cut and cleaned up and soldered back together and heat shrunk it.
Just take your time with it and it is fairly easy, not to mention it is pretty fun.

so my first dilemma i ran into is how should i run the wiring for my 98 fuel pump and tank in the 97 car? The connectors are alot different, the LT1 car only has one connector coming off the fuel pump. but the 98 LS1 tank i am using has 3 connectors coming off the tank, what should i do to make it work? the first pic is the LT1 car connector 2nd is from the 98 LS1 car

Wow, you've got your hands full buddy! Your driveway looks like Sanford and Son and Smokey and the Bandit got into a major disagreement, lol. I have to ask, why would you swap over the LS1 rear brakes? Usually people swap to the LS1 front brakes and keep their rears.
