Turbo Rwd LS Subaru WRX swap journal
I will add some pics to this tonight, but I wanted to start a swap log. The car is a 2003 Subaru Wrx. After blowing the motor several years ago the car has been waiting for a new drive train. I decided I wanted to do a LS motor in it and have settled on a 2005 L33 aluminum 5.3 liter motor mated to a 4L60E. The car will be a single turbo motor with a S480 T6 FI turbo.
The goal here was to build a rwd automatic V8 swap with. 800+ hp for drag racing and street. We started with a 5.3 iron block ls motor and have since opted for the 5.3 aluminum block as our base. These motors interchange just about all parts with the Ls1 and Ls6 Z06 motors.
Please forgive the quality of the pictures, most of the time I just snapped them with my old phone in the dimly lit garage.

Well you got a super wide motor due to the H configuration and a little bit of length due to removing the center diff and doing away with AWD. So the combination gives a decent amount of room. The tough part is fitting a turbo that is half the size of a human in the engine compartment, lol.

Well, I found 275/35/18 tires and wheels that actually match the fronts with the new rear bolt pattern. I am sure for the track I will have something a little more sticky in a 2xx/60/R15. But for the street I still want something that looks good matches the front.
