to remove the broken plug, push back the red part with your nail, hold it back and just slip out the plug (water coolers and some refrigerators use this same type connectors for their waterlines)

I will be following this one. I am planning a similar swap for my 2000 S10. It will be a daily driver 4.8 4L60E.

i did one of these swaps a few years ago in my 03 xtreme. I must say, for a DD, it was super fun to drive!

Thanks!

Some progress made today, got the engine onto an engine stand and pulled the wiring, exhaust manifolds, and some other junk off.

pulled the DBW throttle body off and cleaned up the DBC cable I pulled at the junkyard and went to put it one where I ran into my first issue...

Can that vacuum connection on the intake manifold be removed and replaced with some sort of plug or do I need a different throttle body? Or a different intake manifold?

Any one need a wiring harness and PCM for a DBW swap? I'll be posting it in the classifieds here soon.

New one on the way already, was my own stupid fault. Was using a bolt and a socket to pull the pulley onto the shaft of the pump, had the socket resting on the plastic part of the pulley rather than the metal part, impact gun caused it to shatter. Live and learn.

Ordered my wiring harness and ECM/programming from CPW today! Also thinking about smoothing the truck intake, any thoughts on that?

Did some digging, the code on the sticker on the trans is 9LHD which turns out to be a 1999 GMC VAN G2500 5.7 Cyl 4L60E

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's a non LS motor, will this still bolt up to my L33 properly?

yes it will bolt up but IIRC you will need the spacer for the Torque Converter spud.
The electronics might be different too. Not sure. I think S&P has a writeup on how to make it work.

Thanks for the reply, guess I'll have to do some digging unless someone else wants to chime in on the issue.

Sold off the auto trans in search of a T56, had a lead on one but it was bought out from under me, so the hunt continues. Not much going on in terms of progress, waiting on my wiring harness. Motor mounts are on the way, may hit the junkyard later today, I'll be sure to post up with any scores!

Nice truck. I will be subscribing to this post. I have an S10 with a 4.3 that I'd like to do a swap in. I really like that radiator.

BTW, I have the same blazer style console and shifter as you have in the pics. Plan on installing that over the holiday weekend. Already have blazer seats in the truck.

You should check the throttle body to manifold mating surfaces. I found I had to fill the back of the TB with silicone for the vent tubes. It would have caused a serious vaccuum leak. I put a DBW TB on a 99 LS1 intake. The vent on the truck intake goed through a small hole in the TB and gets air before the TB blade. Cable TH gets vent through the port you plugged. Just some info for you to double check.

I hadn't thought of that, I'll have to double check that, thanks!

Nice! The radiator is a pretty slick deal, and a good alternative to the $500 CPW radiator that doesn't have a built in trans cooler. It's a direct fit for the first gens, and will fit in second generation S10's core supports with some trimming in the corners on the core support.

Small update...went to the junkyard the other day and grabbed some small stuff, couple bolts, radiator cap, upper radiator hose from a 5.3 silverado (for test fitting), and the brake booster nipple that was broken on my intake. Also pulled some threaded inserts out of an intake for my intake manifold since the L33's came DBW and I'm going DBC.

Why did you put silicone around the knock sensor seals?
