thanks everyone for the replies, in the original link it says its off a porsche - i will further search if i can find it now that i see that it is used for 911 conversions.
one think confused me... on the 911 ls1 conversion - why dont they just flip the intake around and bolt it down that way?(since they can be installed either way)

i belive it is off a porsche conversion , i think thats what renegade hybrids uses on their 993 and older porsch conversions.
and the reason they can't flip the intake is that if they do the TB will hit the deck lid if i recall correctly.

So far is it a one only custom, have not seen anyone duplicate it. The Chevelle's Cowl Induction Hood is fully functional (both vacumn and elecitrial flaps work as designed).
Have seen a few other like that Porsche that uses Cones or square air filter boxed in under the Cowl Hood (ie Year One 69 Camaro)

Yeah. that is pretty much the same setup they used on their 69 Camaro that BRPHotRods / Muscle Rods build with Year One, but had a MagnaCharger Blower. BRP used to have it on there site as a project car.
Those are pretty much scoops that have an Air Box to seal off the engine Bay and has an Air Filter in them.

I wouldn't run that first setup unless it was the absolute only thing that could possibly fit.
From what I have been testing and learning trying to get my intake setup better a very smooth 90* bend of 3.5" tubing still flows less than the very obstructive and screened MAF so something like that first setup can't possibly flow worth a crap.
