ITS ALIVE!! I had to do some basic tuning with the trans, speedo calibrations, tq management and some other little things but its running and driving just fine. Couldnt whoop on her much though because of the rainy/wet conditions. Hopefully I can get video of it this week when the roads are dry. Ill be sure to post back up here after i get some footage on youtube

We went to atco tonight

I'll post up video of tonight's passes after work tomorrow.

his first pass was a 12.92 @ 106 dead hooking

second pass was a 12.91 @ 106 1.92 60' dead hooking

third pass was a 12.92 @ 106 dead hooking lol

CAI, full exhaust, ud pulley, 4.56 gears and a 275 50 17 M&H DR (27.8" tall)stock converter(the video will show why it needs a nice sized stall converter lol)

stock LS1 intake manny as well. i did a lil trans tuning and removed tq management but other than that, the tune is stock

Very happy with the results. There is still plenty of weight to be lost as well. This truck could very well see a 11.9 with bolt ons this fall

I used to have a 97 Dakota and loved that truck. Unfortunately, the V6 was a turd and swapping in the 5.9 wasn't worth it. I was thinking this same build for it but with a 5.3 motor, but ended up selling the truck 4 years ago because it needed a bunch of other things replaced as well. Glad to see someone went thru with this idea and did it with another Dakota. I know the guy who has my old truck still and might buy it back sometime to do the same exact thing like you did.

Default Perfect Timing

Nice fast swap guys! And awesome track results. I am in the middle of a carb'd 5.3 swap into my 73' Nova. Last night I was talking to my dad about how my swap is coming, then we started talking about his 2000 4X4 x-cab Dakota that just turned over 200K and that the 4.7 is getting tired, fuel mileage has continued to drop and the tranny has sucked from square 1. Well that got me thinking about how well a 5.3 and 4L60E would swap into his truck. I told him I would do a little research...

So I am with Jsmith on the 4X4 swap and how did you do the gauges??

Figured I'd give you all a little update on the truck

We changed out the 4.56s for the stock 3.92 gears

Just installed a circle D stall converter, 245mm pro stage I 3600-3800stall speed
shift kit is installed as well

The truck now sports a LS6 intake and a Tune. Tonight we just worked mostly on tuning part throttle shifts and TCC lockup at part throttle.

Couldnt really do much WOT tuning below 2nd gear because first gear just goes up in smoke now lol. Hopefully, we'll be at the track next week tuning the shift points. I'm thinking he will be getting some timeslips consisting of 12.40-12.50 @ 108mph on a 1.70 60'
