iirc the "truck" intake flows better then a ls6 or any car intake. something to do with the runners... idk.

a little rust around the door handles bro...

I believe that's debatable. I rememeber reading something about that. GMHTP or someone like that mightve actually did a comparision.

hmm, says the LS6 intake is "a hair better"

i'm thinking......... i believe i'm referring to the newer truck intakes.. nbs trucks/suv's not the older truck intakes. i shouldn't have opened my big mouth, i can't even recall what i read. i'm not knocking the ls6 intake, but i do remember reading abt truck vs ls6.. forget the year/model truck intake (i'm sure it's the newer ones though)

yup, i remember now... it was the newer square port intakes i read on. so your ls6 should flow better then the cathedral port truck intake. sorry. build you a 6.0+ with square port heads.. it'll be a screamer!!!

but... iirc the square port truck intake does out flow the ls6.. not that it matters since they both work with different style heads.

sorry for the thread clutter. carry on

Yes the truck intake flows as well as the ls6 but as I found out on my swap last night that you have to clearance the cowl under the wipers to get it to clear.

Truck is with Jared at Current Performance. I have been reluctant to wirte a build thread until truck has proven itself. Install was super clean, however, and here is a pic.

At the moment I have a few videos about the swap, primarily updating the fuel system, and discussion about the project. They are pretty long-winded but have some good info. My wife is going to start editing them to a more useful size.

The actual motor install video was only a few minutes long, as the motor dropped right into the original perches.

Truck should be at Bradenton raceway (Florida) in November for Turkey Bash or Snowbird Outlaw race.

Now that we have completed the swap, I will be updating frequently asked questions, as well as an approximate timeline with detailed pictures.

Search LS Dakota Swap and you will find some videos and website.

The discussion forum is open to any who are interested. We found the swap to be no more difficult than replacing a Magnum motor and correcting all of its performance needs. Primarily because you can start out with a "turn key" motor, trans and ECU.

Cost for performance is a bargain, as anybody who has worked with an LS engine knows, and actually fitting the motor required no more than a small cut in the back of the middle crossmember with a 4 1/2 angle grinder, and some clearancing (primarily on the exhaust manifolds) with the same grinder. Welding in the crossmember after the cut can be done with any 110 v home MIG/Flux welder, or any mobile welder can do it for the cost of a service call (craigslist).

Writeup will be coming soon.

Did anyone ever get the wiring systems properly integrated?

I did not even try to integrate the wiring, msd box and carb was my personal preference. Here a link to a pass, nothing special but my pb was a 12.97 on a 100% stock lq4.

I'd be very interested in mounts and harness, my '99 R/T just turned 170,000 and the trans is starting to act strange.

I have cad designs of the adapter plates ready to go to the CNC shop, but being low volume at the moment, they keep putting me off. I have been looking for another machine shop that can cut them. The files can be converted to DWG or DXF. Wiring could be done by mailing your LS harness and Dodge distribution block.

Was Jared able to use the Dakota gauges and make the cruise control work?

Jared did a great job with wiring, but I made the gauges work correctly. I just didn't ask him to do it.

Only the tachometer doesn't work at this point, but I believe an Autometer tach adapter might be able to send the signal back into the Dodge ECU. I haven't tried

As far as cruise control, I haven't added it yet. The solution is available at http://www.lswrangler.com/cruise-con...tap-shift.html

This is the kit I will be adding soon, as I really wanted the 6L90 tap shift.

I think another cruise control solution might be available at http://www.thecruisecontrolstore.com...83/0002/Unikit.

Slightly old thread but i had to comment since i have a dakota r/t and an ls1 car. With the amount of time and $ spent on this setup, although its cool and rare, its similar to a hemi swap. He could have gotten more power out of the 5.9 for less $. In factory form the 5.9 motor is definitely asleep at the wheel but every mod even boltons make a huge difference. Getting that 250hp to 400 isnt all that hard with a motor that size.

I strongly disagree. The heads/cam packages he was looking at were 3 grand and the guys with mopar 408's were only running low 12s His LS1 swapped R/T has gone 11's with Bolt Ons in less than satisfactory conditions (bald slicks and lack of traction among them) We Plan on seeing 11.60's this fall as a bolt on truck and then hitting it with a 150 shot after. Alot of the guys on the RT forums are mad at him because he's running faster than their mopars with heads/cam or 62more cubes of displacement. Not to mention having great street manners, as it's a stock longblock LS1
