Default ls376/515 First Fire

Getting ready to fire up my new ls376/515 GM crate motor in my 1968 Camaro. GM's instructions say to use 5w-30 synthetic oil right from first start,my concerns are that it was always considered best to fire up a first generation small block with good ol dino oil to get the rings to seat properly, why would an ls motor be any different in this department? What have you been doing with fresh ls motors and whatbrand of oil have you been using? Also, the supplied instructions that GM sends with the motor say to disconnect the ignition and roll the motor over with the starter to prime the oil system,is this what everyone does or do you prime it with an pressurized external oil tank because of the lack of a distributor, like a first gen motor where you would use a priming tool and electric drill? Please give me your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance, Ken.

Prime it per the instructions. These motors come factory fresh, from mile 1, with synthetic, so there can't be any harm. That said, I'd still use a Royal Purple break in oil, or similar, for 500 miles, then switch. Better safe than sorry.

I pulled the fuse for the coils and injectors, filled it up with mobile 1 5-30, cranked it over in 10 second bursts until I got oil pressure. Changed it after 500 miles and again after 1000 and it's running great. I run a magnetic drain plug and the only thing that was on there was the moly from assembly and maybe some casting dust.

This was on a 376/480
