Ok Bo, clearly you are trying to use common sense. I asked them if could bring them a picture, and they said no, guy out back needs to have one physically so he can hold it up and compare.

I can vouch for the guys at the parts yard.. Think of how many parts they go thru on a daily basis.

That and combine the fact that most of their workers are the type that probably wore helmets and ate their crayons growing up. Or did a bunch of meth and do that currently as a past time.

Just goin by from what I've seen local.

TH350 won't have a lockup convertor. A th350c will though.

Roger that. I do think I saw a connection on the driver side of the transmission but it had long since been destroyed with an old harness dangling loosely at its side

I had the lock up hooked up on my 700r4(which works the same as the th350c) with a toggle in the dash. I would just reach up and click it on when on the highway.

I have 2 5.3 flexplates I'm not going to use. I would be more than happy to elongate the holes for you and ship it to you for the price of the ride. Then you will have to get the adapter that goes between the convertor and the flexplate.

Or you can got to your local GM dealer and buy a new flat flexplate and spacer. They are cheap enough you don't need to use yard parts.

GM part# flexplate 12621399
Spacer 12563532
bolts 12563533 x6

This what I used on my 4.8L with the 700r4/TH350 and works perfect.

Thanks 99, unfortunately it's my understanding that I need an Lq4 specific flat flexplate, as the protrusion of the crank negates the need for a spacer. I have an extra 5.3 plate as well and its a no-go.

Did I already ask you how you are going to make our th350 downshift?

You're still gonna need the spacer for indexing the converter snout, without it the snout will be unsupported and will trash itself at startup.

A TH350 will downshift manually w/o a throttle cable if you'd rather not run one. Using a cable will result in factory-like downshifts...

99 lq4 has the longer crank. The convertor will reach without the spacer.

OK, thanks for clearing that up for me. I sometimes forget about those few long-crank setups out there...

I think it was only the 99 and 00 that were like that. Why GM did it at all is a mystery to me.

First run production stuff.. Then they figured out it was easier to produce one crank in mass production instead of two types.

My thoughts on it.

Thanks for the offer Rit, but not in the budget at the moment, plus this trans is just to hold me over until the 4l80e Gods bless me.

Hey S10 thanks for your response. I assume I need sometime of unique bracket to hook up the kickdown cable then yes?

Just out of curiosity, would the 4l60e out of a '97 and older vehicle mount to the long crank LQ4? Guy got in over his head with the price of an actual ls swap (don't we all) and still wants to let the 5.3 and older 4l60e go for $400. I initially walked away from the deal because I wanted a newer 4l60e, but now...

Bo, Merv? Any input?
