I'm guessing the paddle shifter for the 6L80 works with the Gen IV ecu, tcm. And your motor is a Gen III 24x reluctor, so probably not practical.
But ya know, you got me thinking about this with inexpensive options like the Porsche 944, Audi, Subaru rear boxes. Ran across the idea of a mid engine with an AWD audi or Subaru trans. Rear output hooked to a transfer case (TBSS) then run a shaft all the way forward for an AWD (Lamboghini-esque). That would be a very cool project.
Btw, I did run across some mention of cable shift setups that might be an option with some machining on the T56.

Launching!
So sorry to hear that mate.
Luckily I havd a VERY understanding wife, and a 17yr old that is learning to turn wrenches pretty good.
I finally noticed where you lived, Michigan. I was going to offer to get it to my place in Mo and do some fettling and figuring out.
I put a LM7/700R4 into a Range Rover for gawds sake.....lol
I can make some stuff if it helps. I am no machinist by any means, but I made this junk
