Default 71 El Camino 6.0/4L60E

This one's my wife's daily for her B-day picked up a 6.0/4L60E with harness and truck acc. My plans are to keep it simple low budget. Maybe header the biggest problem decision I'm having is which way to go with fuel pump.Wiring harness gone through and pcm reprogrammed, and f-body oil pan old motor to come out tonight. Needs new gauges and a roof.

The Kooks headers will fit your El Camino. Bob

I think he wants it low budget as he stated. The $1000 price tag on those headers seems a bit crazy, Im sure there's a factory header that would work with his build tho. Keeps us posted, I have a 68 El Camino Im doing next year.

Try Dynatech or Schoenfeld for lower prices.

A lot of times, 68-72 A body and 2nd gen F body headers will interchange. The tight spot I found the one time I had a set of each car for a BBC to compare was the back lower control arm mount. -and the clutch linkage-

Yeah, the Kooks are more expensive but they have 1-7/8 tubes and 3/8 flanges. Dirty Dingo makes engine mounts for LS conversions in case you need mounts. You're going to have a nice ride when it's done! Bob

Just ordered my Gauges. Went with Stewart Warner Wings, electrical, white face. Gettin em from Speedway Motors. New fuel pump and sending unit should be here this week for the Roadmaster fuel cell. I got it started up, but am having issues with wiring. I think it relates back to an old problem in the ignition wiring. While waiting on parts, It's time to start stripping. The leather off the rusty *** roof. Which is worse, working on the wiring or stripping the roof? Taking donations for beer. X(

I put stewart warners on my 72 El Co. They look great, but the style I wanted required 240 ohm senders. They didn't have a 90 ohm sender version of the fuel gauge. I ended up buying a replacement gas tank to retrofit it to accommodate a 240 ohm sender. After that didn't work out because the fuel gauge reading was off, I ended up buying a Rick's tank and installed a universal 240 ohm sender with an in tank pump.

Yep i think Kooks is about to price its self right out of business. When i first started looking for headders for my car i looked at the kooks and then a week later i found some for $600 less then Kooks and work just as good and look just as good.

Just found some last week on e-bay for $200 for my Nova that are Stainless Steel so more and more compaines are making stuff for us LS swap guys and the price will keep coming down and down.

Said these will all so work for a El Camino you might give them a try.

Aftermarket support will continue to grow, we like to spend money and go fast, and Ls is the way to go fast right now and people want that money.
