Corvette torque tube modification I am going to be building a custom car on a C5 Corvette chassis and the engine will be set back in the frame from the stock location. Has anyone here ever shortened the torque tube and drive shaft on one of these cars? I seem to remember reading that the aluminum that the torque tube is made of is not easily welded and requires special techniques to do so. I would appreciate any information that anyone can give me. Thanks
Russell at Nerd Rodz and his dad, Hotrod Jim have built several cars using C5 rears and I have seen them shorten and lengthen the torque tube and the driveshaft inside.
