You should find another one and swap it for sure. These trucks are so much fun and no one at the drag strip expected my truck to run like it does.

I shouldn't have sold it, but a guy I went to high school with wanted to buy it a week before I bought my V. It went to a good home, but he's sold it since and I never saw it again. I don't think I'd want to now.

As for swaps, I'm keeping my eye out for a 66-70 sedan deville. I've got the s10forum still in me, so I'd bag it with a Turbo'd 5.3.

Nice run for its first time out. It's such a good feeling when you finish a project and get to drive it

I've been thinking about ways to get some more weight out of the truck. Currently the truck weighs 3180 without me and 3400 with me. Id like to get it to 3200 lbs race weight without completely striping it. I keep coming back to ditching the front bumper support and adding a roll pan and step shaver kit to the rear. Any 2nd gen s10 guys done this and how much weight did it save?

It may save you some overall weight, but I would keep all the weight behind the rear tires I could. I'd replace the back glass with Lexan before I removed the rear bumper.

Keeping factory glass until it needs a cage. I'm not too worried about keeping weight in the rear end because I have the fuel tank and battery mounted over the rear end. It doesn't have the horrible weight distribution that a factory s10 does. It will still have a tow package on it though since I pull a jet ski to the lake on the weekends.

Ive been gathering parts for a heads cam and intake build over the past few months and everything is pretty much finally here minus a few small things. The build idea was to have a sbe nitrous ls1 that I can cruise on the street and take to the track and put up some big numbers. Here is a brief run down of everything; Stainless works 1 7/8 long tubes, full 3" stainless exhaust, Frankenstein Racing custom CNC Trickflow heads, custom Tick performance nitrous cam, Super Victor intake manifold and 4150 throttle body.

The heads just came in yesterday and I'm still waiting on my cowl hood and comp cam degree kit and I need to order fly cutting tools, but then the engine is ready to be torn apart.

The hood just came in from Sunmit. Its a harwood 2.5" show series bolt on and seems well made. I'll have to comment on the fitment when I get it installed

I scored a disc brake, limited slip, 3.73 explorer rear end from the junkyard today for cheap. The plan is to rebuild it with carbon clutches and have the axles and rotors redrilled.

I also test fit the hood today and it fits awesome from the factory. I would recommend it to anyone.

Tonight I got the 8.8 cleaned up and in the garage. It's going to get a fresh coat of black once it gets rebuilt, I just need to get it mocked up under the truck first.

I started mocking up the air cleaner and got the throttle arm cut down to clear everything. The filter has a 1/2" drop base to it and the throttle arm clears perfectly leaving the last hole open to attatch the cable.

The hood fitment picture as promised. Its not latched in the pic, still needs some minor tweaking but as you can see it looks great. Didn't require any trimming or cutting.

There is room for days under there, much more than I expected. I measured and I'll be able to fit a 2" throttle body spacer along with a 1/2" nitrous plate.

Just joined and read you thread. Great stuff. Did you cut down the 8.8 or use it as is?

The headers look sweet. How much were they? ~ $1300 ?

The 8.8 is factory explorer width. The headers were a little over $800 if I remember right. Check out the air pan I'm working on.

Awesome build my friend. I have always liked the S10/Sonoma trucks. Thought it would be cool to do exactly what you have done.

How did I miss this build? Your setup sounds insanely close to what I did. F-body tank behind the axle! Works like a champ too! I've been trying to figure out how to do a cowl pan like you are doing and came across this thread...crazy. Anyway fill me in on the details of that pan please...and lets bump this thread up from the dead!
