Default 1964 impala lq4/4l65e conversion

whats up fellas, I'm doing a lq4 swap into my 1964 impala. I'm new to the forum so i gotta figure out how to post pics. I've upgraded to cpp front and rear tubular control arms and their 4 wheel disc brake kit with drop spindles. The 6.0 has got ls3 cnc ported heads and stock ls3 intake, not sure on the accessory drive but i think the truck kit will work. I'm probably gonna turn it into a 408

Nice work. I'll be keeping an eye on what you're doing for ideas when I finally convert mine.

What are your plans for a fuel tank?

Don't know about a '64, but LS swap headers from Dynatech for a '67-'69 Camaro fit my '65 Impala perfectly.

Keep posting pics! I like to see the impalas being worked on. I'm almost to the stage of tear it all down and paint/powder/interior.

has anybody tried the holley ls oil pan on these 58-64 impalas? it doenst seem like it fits right. i had to heat and beat the center of the crossmember, now the sides of the pan are touching the x-member. what oil pan is everyone using if not this one?

I will be doing this exact same thing in my 64.

How much clearance between the motor and the firewall do you have using the "stock" location motor mounts?

Could you get a picture of the motor mount on the car with the motor in?

I'm wondering if some trifive LS headers will work?

97_2002 camaro headers will work with your frame you just have to modify one flange cut it down and drill and tap new bolt pattern on it. I have a set allready done that i would sell also a new driveshaft ,alum. Radiator.pm.me and let me know. Keep up the good work it will be worth in the end.

bwirolla64-was that hard to do? i got the seam there and i can't get the metal to lay flat against it

bigpat- I'm not really a fan of the holley ls plates, i some pics but i can't upload them, i think i may need to resize them. I'm trying to figure it out.

erodz-i will keep that in mind bout the headers. i just ordered a BRP ls engine mount kit. i don't like the holley oil pan and ls plates

I'm doing a 5.3 in a '59 El Camino. Using S&P motor plates and a 2002 Camaro oil pan. Had to move the small block frame mounts out 1/4" on each side and then fab shims to raise them up 1/4" on both sides to get correct alignment and get the pan off the crossmember. Using energy performance motor mounts. Fighting the crossmember/trans mount now.

The hardest thing about shaving the firewall is getting the fit and the holes to what you want. I took a sheet of that thick black roofing paper and traced it out. Best thing to invest in is Clecos!!! You can take it on and off as much as you want to tweak it.
I also used the BRP mounts but heads up! The motor mounts are decent but in my opinion the tranny crossmember is junk! I ended up making my own crossmemeber.

If I'm not mistaken the 60 and 65 housIng are the same?! I have had no issues with mine at all. The mount on the crossmemeber is about 2" back and 2" down app from a powerglide crossmemeber.
