Longer driveshaft yoke?

Default Longer driveshaft yoke?

Does anybody know if they make a longer driveshaft yoke? I'm using the original one from a 350 turbo, and it's about 6 inches long or so, but my driveshaft really needs to be about an inch longer, so rather than having a new one made, or having it re-tubed I thought if they made such a thing it would be easier. Anybody know?

Yes they make longer yokes. Just search ebay for th350 yoke. You'll need to know of you've got a 1310, 1330, or 1350 U joint. Using a longer yoke is kind of a bandaid solution to a short drive shaft. I was considering doing the same thing when my LSx 442 swap had nearly 2" of yoke showing. When I took mine out I added the price of new yoke ($70), 2 U joints ($30) then saw the big dents, corrosion on everything.
A new driveshaft was $175

I didn't know a yoke was $70. I'm not having any issues with it at all, but would just feel more comfortable if it was in the transmission another inch. I can get another shaft shortened for less than. $100, so that's probably what ill do. I can save this driveshaft for my beater truck, and when I set it up I'll just put the engine/trans back another inch.

The longer 8" yokes are about $60 + $10 shipping.
I had the problem the end of the yoke was riding inside the tailshaft output bushing. It had worn a line on the bushing and the yoke.

I'm not understanding, how does altering the yoke length accomplish anything? No matter what "length" the yoke is, if the shaft is too short, it'll still be too short. The excess amount of "stick out" due to a too-short shaft will cause vibration and rear bushing damage.

It sticks out about an inch more than I would like. A longer yoke would give me more yoke inside the trans and more spline contact. I don't think it sticking out an inch is enough to cause a vibration issue since I don't have one. It works fine, I'm.probably just being a little too picky. That said, I'm thinking I'll just use this shaft in my next truck and move the engine back accordingly.

An inch is acceptable, but in your first post you said the shaft needed to be "about an inch longer" which would likely make it closer to 2" out of the trans, and that's too far. What will happen over time, is the "whip" from the additional unsupported length will destroy the rear bushing and that will eventually cause a vibration issue.

Oh no, if it had been two inches out I would never have used it and got a new shaft from the start.
