Default Engine swap LT1 vs. LS1

I was just wondering how hard is it to swap from V6 to V8 in a '93 Camaro 3.4. Has anyone ever done a swap from 3.4 to LS1. How much harder is it to go from 3.4 to LS1 vs. 3.4 to LT1. If anyone has ever done the swap please give me some info. Much appreciated.

i would say they are about equal, but ls has an upside that pushes it past any series 2 engine

Depends on how much power you're going for/want in the future. If you're just looking for stock area/bolt on power and something fun to play with LT1 motors are usually much cheaper than an LS motor.

However, if you plan on doing big cubes, 500+hp, ect, an LS motor would be the way to go. People love to talk about the higher threshold/capabilities the LS motors have (which they do), but people rarely ever take them anywhere near their potential.

Also, look into the 5.3/6.0 LQ truck motors. They're often much less expensive than an LS motor, and you can still make very very good power out of them.

Im in the middle of both an LT1 swap into a 55 Chevy Truck and an LS1 swap in my 68 Firebird.

FWIW I will never again waste my time on an LT1 swap. Only reason I did was because I wasnt paying the bills and my grandfather didnt want to spend the extra money on an LSx. I figured it would be easier since a SBC was coming out, so no conversion mounts needed, the same headers will work ect. Finding parts and computer tuning and all that was not near as easy. Besides LSx motors are so much nicer. Id say if you dont want to spend the extra money for sure look into the 5.3 and 6.0 iron block motors, 70 lbs isnt alot in a basically stock car. If I didnt already have a built LS1 I would have gone with a 6.0

I'm not really going for much power. Just a pretty much bone stock LS1 I would really like to stick with the 5.7 http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/3129296600.html I just found this on craigslist... good deal?
Also could someone tell me about the 5.3 and 6.0 can the 6.0 truck engine be built up like the LS2

Not much difference between V6/V8, look for an iron LS, work very well.
