Got a couple more things finished last night.
Installed the 2.8 poly mounts from CP. They are nice but it would have been better if they would have arrived faster than a week.

Also finished cutting and welding on the a/c compressor notch. It doesn't look that great but it's functional. I can get the compressor in and out pretty easily with the motor in.

Right now I figure I still have about 10.5 hours left to be driving this thing. Hopefully I can find that much time between now and Sunday night, would like to drive it to work on Monday.

Got alot done on this thing last night and this morning. Finally fired it up. Runs a bit rough, I'm guessing thats because the motor has been sitting for a couple of years and the injectors are gummed up. I read in another recent post that you could boil them in water for 10 minutes and it would take care of it.
On the plus side, all the guages worked, and the oil pressure looked good.
Now I just got to put the accessories back on and start on the frontend modification and assembly.

It's alive, I drove it to work yesterday and today. Will update with pictures of all the other mods I had to do to make this thing work later.
I boiled the injectors and that didn't work right away, but after starting up and letting it run for 20 minutes at a time they finally worked free.
Had a bit of trouble getting the speedo to work, long story short, I had to hook the speed out wire to the (cruise control) speed wire on the s10 for it to work.
It is getting 22-23 mpg with the 3.73 hear. I have a 3.08 gear that I plan to use, it will put it back to the cruise rpm that it was in the sierra with 3.42 gears.

I do have to say that this truck is really fun to drive. I just sold a 98 ls1 z28, and this truck probably isn't quite as fast but it's not too far off. It's really fun to drive, it feels lighter than the camaro and is just more comfortable. Did I mention that it's fun to drive?
I have a small update, got the drop spindles and blocks installed, 2/3 drop. I really thought that the 4.8 would settle the front more or atleast some, didn't seem to drop at all. I may end up going with a 2" block in the rear instead of the 3". I'll wait until after I decide on wheels and tires to see what it will need. Rear was almost sitting on the bump stops with the 3" block and was bottoming out hard on it, I removed them for about 2" more travel but it would still bottom on big bumps especially under power, so I bought some Monroe reflex monotube shocks for the rear. It made all the difference in the world, I am very pleased so far. Will be getting some for the front. Front drop spindles are McGaughys, I went with them because the picture showed iron blocks instead of the aluminum shown for the belltech, the McGaughys still came with aluminum blocks so I order a set of cast iron ones from summit. The drop spindles make contact with the steering stop on both sides and limit steering, I had not had that problem before when I used belltech, I will have to clearance the stops or remove them entirely, not a big deal.
I have zq8 sway bars coming for it, although it really doesn't handle bad at all.
Fuel economy has fallen off a bit, it's been running about 22.4 for the last 2 tanks. This is partially due to how much fun it is to drive. I can't keep my foot out of it yet. The other issue is my work commute has lots of stops and curves and is mostly hilly county roads, I think it would do much better at 75 on a long interstate run, rpm would still only be around 1950.
Got the fenders and tailgate painted, got some runs I'm going to have to cut out when it cures a little more. Have a xtreme roll pan on the way and a hidden hitch. Other than the AC, wheels and tires, window tint, and stereo it is pretty much done.

Thanks man, honestly I'm already wishing it was a 5.3 or 6.0 but I keep telling myself its a driver and not to worry. It's just so much fun.
I have a muffler ordered for it, it's getting a 3" magnaflow knock off with an 18" case, shouldn't be too loud.

I'm running the exact same exhaust manifold setup as you. Just ordered a set of stainless swap headers, should have them installed this weekend. I'll let you know what kind of gains I see.

I've got an 02+ ls6 cam and valve springs with ls7 lifters in mine. It was a night and day difference over the stock cam. Pulls hard all the way to 6800rpm. Also I have a trailblazer I6 4.2 torque converter, lets me stall up to about 2500rpm while still being able to tow if I want to. If you did both of those, I think you would be much happier with it.

Not really, I am still seeing over 21 mpg and I have a heavy foot. Before I put in the stall and with dry rotted street tires, I ran a 14.2@98 with a 2.3 60' with serious traction issues. Now with the stall, nitto drag radials, and these headers I should be deep into the 13's. Mine is an extended cab, so I've got a bit more weight I have to move than you do.

I think these wheels look better than almost any other option out there, and we have tons in our showroom. I also have the ZQ8 bars as well as lowering coils and blocks out back. The ride is a bit choppy, but the handling is surprisingly crisp. I love playing onramp grand prix.

I ordered HPT pro today to fix a tach issue and a fuel gauge issue. Hopefully will have that done this weekend.
Also, I did a bit more research because I was worried about the stock 2.2 fuel pump. My truck had just had a new airtex (E3943M) 2.2 fuel pump installed, research on autozone.com that pump has a max pressure of 85psi and a minimum flow of 40 gph. Pressure is plenty and flow would be enough to support close to 500hp theoretically. Should be plenty for my little <300hp motor.
