Good to know about the fuel pump, I just replaced this one a couple months ago, I was wondering about that.

Got the exhaust installed last night. It was just plumbed into the factory 2-1/4 muffler and tailpipe and I knew I would want to fix that.

This is what the y-pipe I built looks like under the truck.

This is the magnaflow knock off. 3" offset in center out, 18" long main body, straight through design.

And the tailpipe.

Sounds just like I wanted it, quiet inside, nice rumble outside.

Received HP tuners last night, got my tach and fuel guage fixed or so it appears.

Tach high/low resolutions were set at 3/3, I changed them to 6/6 and that seemed to work, It's a little bit off from what HP tuners shows but only a tiny bit.

As for the fuel guage, the perameters in the 2000 sierra were at 0 ohms empty 150 ohms full, I reset them to 49 ohms empty and 240 ohms full. I have not checked my sender to see if that was correct, I found those numbers on a forum somewhere and the guage seems to work better. Time will tell.

Also, noticed that I have a very lazy oxygen sensor using the VCM scanner suite and my long term fuel trims are in the +15 range. Hopefully with a new one my mpg will improve. Will do some logs with new o2 sensors and see if this thing really wants more fuel.

I'm not sure I can explain it any better than the picture shows but I'll try. Basically I just bolted it in place using both bolts for alignment but only tightening the bottom. Tighten it real tight, don't want it to move. Then cut it off just above the bottom bolt. Clamp the piece you cut off right beside it to the front, grind prep for the weld, then tack or weld it real good, be careful not to get the idler too hot and melt the seal. Then you should be able to drill a new hole in the frame for the second bolt. Pull it off, cut off excess, weld the back side etc. and you are done. If your idler is wore out, might as well do this to a new one.

A little update, I now have right at 10,000 miles on it, all is good. Still getting a pretty consistent 23 mpg. Had it on a scale and it was right at 3250 with a full tank, will be a little over 3300 when I get the AC compressor installed.

Changed water pump and thermostat, when I did I pulled out the stainless steel water neck and welded in a 90 to get a better angle on the hose and to get it out of the way of the intake. Thought I would include some pictures in case it would help anyone else. The 90 is just cut-off swivel neck for an older intake. I used the cheapest one I could find on ebay, should have spent a little more money, there was some terrible contaminates in the aluminum, the reman water pump casting was much cleaner in comparison.

Got new to me wheels and new tires installed. These are C5 corvette wagon wheels.
front 17x8.5 with 245/45r17 General G-max
Rear 18x9.5 with 275/40r18 General G-max

2.5" spacers all the way around.

Think it might need to come down a bit more in the front.

Well I can't leave anything alone. I bought a 206/212 comp cam for this thing, was planning to put it in the 4.8 but decided it would be easier just to put it in a 5.3 I had sitting here then just stuff the 5.3 in the truck.

Installed new melling oil pump, ls6 springs, and waiting on Brian Tooley pushrods to come in to finish putting the 5.3 back together.

4.8 is out, should be back on the road this weekend.

Well it's alive again. Here's an idle video and an untuned 0-60. I'm fighting IAT temps now, need to figure out a cold air induction for it now that it's getting hot out.

iat temps are an issue with me and I live in WA. What kind of temps you lookin at? if i sit in traffic in a 70ish day they get to 120-150. I was flipping through jegs and saw this, link below. Its a little pricey. I also looked at airaid plastic intake tube kit.

It was in the low 80s yesterday and after I let it warm up in the garage and then headed out to start tuning it was in the 130s.

I went back and pulled the grill and headlight out and cut a bigger hole in the core support (passenger side) so the filter could pull more fresh air. Then I ghetto'd up a cardboard heat shield between the motor and air intake. Went back out in the mid 80s and IATs were running 95-105 degrees. Still enough to pull timing. Also, IAT would rise the more throttle I gave it, indicating it is pulling hot air from the engine compartment.

I'm going to look into building or retrofitting an airbox and get the intake in front of the core support. I think spectre makes an enclosed filter that I could plumb up to the core.

Gave up on the spectre inline because the biggest one was rated for 700 cfm, probably plenty for this motor but I want to leave more room for improvement in the future. The current Spectre filter that I'm using is rated at 1100+ cfm.

Here is my ghetto "advance auto" cardboard airbox.

This did the trick. IATs are rock solid at ambient basically anytime it's running. I shut it down and let it heat soak for 10 minutes or so then started it up, IAT started coming back to ambient instantly. Hooray, now to build it out of aluminum.

I'll probably just run the cardboard until I get A/C and cruise control working then come back to the airbox.

Did you do your own tune? If so, what did you set the tach resolution to? I can't seem to find an answer to calibrate my tach.

I Ended up adjusting these a bit to get them to my liking but I can't remember what I ended up with. I will check my tune and report back later.

Thank you for the info. I unfortunately screwed myself a thousand times over trying to "save money" by picking up an unused copy of LS1edit. I am seriously regretting the decision, especially after seeing everything available with hptuners..
