Default Which Oil filter to Use

I was wondering if anyone knew what oil filter I would need for a LS3 motor.
I swapped out the oil pan (from southern performance systems) so It would fit in my 67 Camaro. I wanna fire it up tomorrow. But just need this stupid filter.

I heard I Would need a truck oil filter? Out of what truck and what motor?

Thanks

If it uses a standard LS truck filter, there are only two or three to choose from. Try a 2000 5.3 pickup and a 2009 5.3 pickup and see if those fit. I think the early trucks and the LS1 cars got the same filter.

Thank you, I will go down to the auto store in the morning and hopefully they have both of them.

But will a 5.3 be the same as a 6.2?

You need to see what threads it has. If its the early standard thread one is a Delco PF46 and if its the later its the PF48. The taller filters may work as well they are the same fit just taller for more filter area.

2006-Current
PF63 taller filter (4.828") for the newer 22mm threads.
(PF48) shorter filter (3.45") for 22mm threads

1999-2006
older stuff
PF46 is the shorter (3.404") for 13/16" threads
PF61 is the taller (4.526") for 13/16" threads

Details on the "E" its not just a letter.

Info from ACdelco
ACDelco has announced a redesigned Original Equipment (OE) oil filter that offers ACDelco's exclusive Duraguard media in a smaller package.

The new OE filter applications PF46E, PF47E, PF52E and PF61E will be installed in applicable new GM models.

The new oil filter features:

• Increased efficiency and higher burst and collapse strength
• A new Nylon core that provides better flow characteristics and improved collapse strength
• A full cover baseplate that allows easy installation in blind applications
• Duraguard media, ACDelco's trademarked synthetic cellulose-blended media that
efficiently filters particles as small as 10 microns -- 1/3 the width of a human hair -- to
ensure a clean supply of oil to engine components
• A combination relief and anti-drainback valve that prevents dry starts and assures oil flow
(where applicable)
