aluminum drive shaft How many of you have bought a custom length aluminum driveshaft? How was the quality of the welds?

I've had 4 custom shafts made by Denny's Driveshafts and nothing ever looked like that..

Looks like a standard MIG welded Aluminum driveshaft; although I would say their QC is a little low and wire feed was too fast.
I'm in the same boat as 85MikeTPI; All the custom shafts I've ever gotten were from Denny's Driveshafts and looked like the one he posted for the aluminum ones. His steel ones are closer to the one you posted build-up wise, but cleaner in weld quality. I ran/will be running a Nitrous Ready on my car (Guaranteed for life!)

grinding off the splatter would make it look way better.
the welds look fine, plenty strong, good penetration to both sides.
Mig welding aluminum is not easy. guess the guy does not have the coordination to tig. I know I do not.

Guess you went in on that group purchase. I didn't think it was a great deal. Nothing I couldn't get done locally. That splatter should have come off before it was ever balanced.

Denny's Driveshafts has a custom built proprietary welding system they have developed for doing their welding; none of their shafts are welded by hand.

I just had 2 alum dshafts made with 31 spline yokes, 1350 Spicer Ujoints, 3.5" tubing and they said a machine does the welding.
Mine didn't have splatter like that; however I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a trailer queen and a powdercoated frame
take it to the strip and let it rip! That splatter is purely cosmetic. They should've knocked it off/down but it isn't the end of the world.
