got the car here at the bodyshop here monday morning and should be getting some color on it the first part of next week. the car is super nice and the attention to detail is crazy. dont rip on the engine color its very cool when u see the whole package! been painting there cars for bout 8 years now and are by far some of the cleanest and well put together cars out there.

I like it, I went more modern with mine, thought about the pontiac blue, but I would have gone the 76 blue color.... again looks great, really want to see this thing done and rolling around.... Im about to up mine to a 6.0 stroker......

Even though you cant see it, I did mine in the earlier metallic blue/green. The plan was to make it look like it came from the factory this way. Still a ways to go to get it there. Love the look, at first glance many will not notice it is an LS.

Awsome build!!! Very clean looking. Is the Lucerne blue metanlic? IS it Pontiacs version of Lamans or Marina blue?
Does Speed Inc deal with VVT chassis dynotuning?

Great build. I'm doing a 70 formula clone with a ls1 t56 combo. I plan on making my engine look as stock as possible. Love the factory engine look you guys have going.

As mentioned earlier, the carbon fiber nose was to be painted body color, but its a moot point. The nose had a unrepairable blemish in it, and Anvil couldn't get us a replacement for 8 weeks, so the original nose is going back on for now.
Car is at the paint shop now, we expect it back in about a week.

Awesome build. That's kinda the route I am taking with my Chevelle. Right now I have an LQ4 with a 200-4r. I painted the engine Chevrolet Orange. I plan to run a 4bbl EFI setup, an old school style air cleaner, and relocate my coils to the firewall for that distributor look. Once I get the swap done and the bugs worked out I plan to pull the engine and bore/stroke to a 396 or 402. Kind of a new version of a 396 4 speed car.

No production engine has ever been painted body color. I have nothing against it, but I don't care for it. It is a modern version of the original car. Modern 455, modern Manual trans, updated version of original wheels, and original interior. To me....popping the hood and having the original color engine under the original appearing shaker seems logical. The only other thing I would have considered would be Leaving it natural aluminum if it was an aluminum block, but being an LSX, it comes fom GM in Chevy orange.
Love this build. Is this car for sale or is it a customer build?

LOVE the ingine color. I did the same on my car when I put the 421 in the Formula. I get a lot of "huh?" looks from young folks and a lot of smiles and nods from older folks.

The average gear head would walk by and not notice that it was a LS motor, seeing the original pontiac blue.
Monochromatic is cool at times, but the restomod theme you are doing is ****.
Exactly how I would have done it.
If/when you get a new CF nose, I would do the bird graphic that comes on the nose in CF negative, so there is no paint on that section of the nose showing that the nose is made of CF. Even if you don't do the strip up the hood, I think it would look nice.
Since the car was the original blue with the negative in CF, you could pinstripe around it in White or the color of the engine block.
Just a thought.

Jim showed me the engine a while back when I was talking about carbs, that efi setup is sweet!
I like the blue engine, helps keep it PONCHO.
Now mine for my Merc on the other hand, I have no idea.
