Default BMW E36 LS1 Swap OBDI or OBDII?

I'm looking for a car currently to do this swap with. I was wondering if it made any difference as far as buying an OBDI car or an OBDII. The E36 was made from 1992-1999 (including the M3), so they were made both ways. Is one easier to do than the other?

I went w/ an OBDI car for smog reasons, just a sniffer test. I still haven't even started the project and by the time I do it will be "historic" being a 1993.

No emissions testing where I live it's really all about how easy the swap will be and how much money I'll get for selling the m50/s50 vs the m52/s52. I might be taking a while with my car also, just because I want to find a manual sedan, black/black, without a sunroof, and with clean title and no bodywork needed. I'll find one eventually, but it's a bit of a waiting game.

The iron clunkers sell for about the same across the platforms, like 300 or so for the m50/2 and 2500 s50/2. Auto to manual swap is easy, black on black will be easy to find, you will have a very hard time finding one without a sunroof thou

I hear that only 10% or so in the US were made without one. It's like putting a car battery on your roof though, and it also takes away some much needed headroom. I suppose I could take one with a sunroof and just do a sunroof delete, but I'd rather find one without it in the first place.

If the M3 motor sells for that much more, it makes about no sense for me to buy a regular E36 and raise it to M specs, correct?
