Default foxbody questions

I have a few questions about some gray area things I have found.

Planning on swapping a lm7 5.3l with a th400... Turbo will soon follow.
My question is about my th400 I have heard people always end up using the short tail section but few thread have referenced a longtail will work with foxbody drive shaft and new Yokes etc . I'm not to worried about driveshaft length lineing up perfect just would like to know with the long tail is possible to be used since I have one sitting in my garage.

My short tail th350 was about 3 inches to short to use the factory drive shaft.

I used a short tail th400 with a stock length shaft and I had to cut the yoke down 1" to get the proper clearance.
