I know on my 80 Z28 the left inner tie rod comes real close to the pan. My pan is a truck pan. What i did was cut a 2 1/2 inch (IIRC) section out of the rear sump and welded a piece of 1/4 inch plate to the bottom of the sump. Then cut and rewelded to the appropriate depth the pickup tube. The stupid thing i did, i welded in a bung for the drain plug and used a simple pipe plug. Welded in to the bottom of the plate. Now that bung is actually a smidge lower then the bottom of the subframe. I know this cause guess what got knicked when driving over my centerpost hoist. You guessed it. The ****** drain plug bung. Its still fine and didnt crack thank god.

You guys raising the engine for the tie rod, are you only raising the one side or both?

I raised both sides. I didnt want one side of the motor to be taller then the other just to keep it even
