I figured I would start a thread on my build. my last setup was a cammed 5.0 with the ebay gt45 turbo ran good but a valve guide messed up and ruined the valve and I have now decided to go the ls route over fixing the 5.0. its a slow build but im working on the smoothing the engine bay and getting rid of any rust in the engine bay before i put the new kmember in. I plan on running the brutespeed forced induction cam in an lm7 with my gt45 turbo and th400 trans. still in search of a decent priced junkyard lm7 in Illinois please let me know. heres some pictures of my process

I do not plan on using the ls alternator because i will not be using a factory ls engine harness and my alternator connectors are tied into the chassis harness not the 5.0 engine harness that i removed so it is still on the car. im hoping i shouldn't have to change anything to get it to work. one less thing to have to modify and worry about

ordered some tires the other day cuz I found i good price on them, well see how they work. also picked up a 2002 5.3 last night. unloaded it after work motor seems to be in pretty good shape. guna order microsquirt in a few weeks and try firing it on a stand before it goes in the car.

finally got microsquirt. almost done wiring it. I ran out of heatshrink tonight so i just stopped and twisted the ecu grounds to a ground so i could download the firware and test the sensors. all thats left is mounting and wiring the map sensor, finishing the power wires for the coil packs and injectors to the fusebox, and putting everything in wire loom. hoping to fire the motor on the stand this weekend ![Leghump](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/leghump.gif)

dependent on what k member you are using you may end up having hood issues with the altenator bracket. Maybe. I used a stock upr 5.0 k member with custom motor mounts and made the same type bracket only reversed on the inside and my alt barely hits the hood with a 3 in cowl.

the wiring is not as hard as most think. The biggest thing is taking your time and not removing wires that you need. For the stock ford sensors I drilled the block off plate at the top of the oil pan on the drivers side for the turbo and the ford oil pressure sender. For the temp sender I turned it down to the ls threads. m12 x 1.75 if memory serves correctly and put it in the passenger head in the back.

Any info you want to provide about the microsquirt will prove to be helpful!

microsquirt wasnt hard to hook up at all. I was a little nervous about doing it but now that its done it isnt hard at all. just remember the 3 resistors you have to install then its basically just following denmahs write up, i also used the microsquirt3 external wiring diagram, that helped alot.
