has anyone ran microsquirt on a gen 4 58x reluctor wheel motor?

i was about to get a MSI with a MSD 6012 to run spark, but this microsquirt has my eye.

i'm not smart enough to figure out the details unless i see how it's done. thanks for the videos. where would you buy new connectors from for like the crank signal, etc? my LY6 didn't come with a harness and the junkyards are pretty much nill around here.

thanks
mike

Very cool videos, thanks for taking the time to show us! Cant wait for the next video!

Like others I didnt know microsquirt could handle a v8, thought it could only have small engines.

Efi connection sells all the connectors. On this harness I specificly chose used connectors to show how affordable it can be done. Yes it can run a 58x reluctor engine .No problem.

It runs the lsx coils in a wasted spark config. I.e. fires cylinder 1 and 6 at same time same as Ford and other OEM. Cylinder 6 would be on the exhaust stroke so spark places little load on coil and cylinder pressure is heading out exh port, thus it is wasted and causes no harm.

What MS is that in the video. Couldn't find it on their website.

EDIT: I found it. You are using the Motorbike MS. I understand the spark, but how are you doing the injectors? Or did I miss something above.

I was planing on running the MS3 w/ MS3X. But if i can use this on my lq4 turbo build it will save money.
Thanks for the write up and vids.

It batch fires the injectors one bank at a time same as most every efi system on the planet. Sequential injection is over rated and 99.99% of applications don't need it and power and fu efficiency in nearly identical. OEM use it to improve emissions at lower rpm . Insignificant in most performance applications

could the same harness be used with an ms3, or would it require changes to get the most out of the ms3's extra features?
Thanks,
Kory

All the same inputs but you would have individual (8) injector and (8) coil outputs. Either way it would be a custom harness. Same number of connectors just individually connected to separate ms3 pins since the ms3 has different pinout with more connectors. Please read the ms3 manual. It's easy but must be done correctly. I suggest anyone interested in the system just download the software and play with it. Tuner Studio comes with a sample log and file to mess with.

Got to rework a lsx harness tonight and tomorrow to swap in a L33 into a 2001 v6 chassis. plus another project car is scheduled for drop off tomorrow afternoon, so no time to work micro harness this weekend.

That brown wire on the coilpacks, that you mention leaving unconnected in the vid - Isnt that the coil logic ground that should be grounded at the ECU ?
Thanks for bringing more exposure to the Msquirt system. Lokk forward to seeing more of your project.

It can be connected to sensor ground wire as described in the mega manual. Not required but may reduce any noise on coil firing signal from micro to the internal coil driver circuit.

Megasquirt Pro is top of the line system for about $1,000

I am "economically aware" cheap as my wife says so I use the micro for $340 when ever possible.

I am a no BS guy that prefers just the facts in my build and posts. I appreciate additional technical data you may add.

Just google ' megasquirt ' software or Tunerstudio suite and download to test drive the software; its not locked and fully functional. Trans control can be had IF you buy a second megasquirt, the GPIO board and wire it up. Software is really easy.

What is your engine that you want to control ?
