That pulley is close, but it clears! The big issue I see with running a smaller pulley is that you may be spinning the pump too fast or make too much pressure. Others have done it, but I worry about the little things sometimes.
As far as the big tires here is a link http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.ph...ylark+315+tire Post #25 is the guy who has the 325s. Now I have searched for other posts by the same guy and tried to contact him to find out what he did. At one point in time in my quest to find the biggest tire I found a post with a couple of pictures of the same 68 with the drag star rims and he stated that he only trimmed and rolled the lip. If I recall correctly he had 15x8.5" rims and had a 5.5" back spacing. I have been searching for that post to no avail, I am pretty sure the guy posted on a thread that had to do with big tires on a 64-65 GS. And if it was the same car he must have forgotten his old info and had a new v8buick id.
What I have done so far is I ordered some custom made 15x8" buick rallys with a 5.25" backspace. I will be trimming and rolling the wheel well lip and I am going to start with the 275s to see what kind of clearance I will have. I will keep you posted but it will be up to 8 weeks before I get the rims. If clearance allows I will graduate to the 295s as I know how I drive those tires wont last long!
Sorry for going on and on and taking over your post on non related Ls stuff!

Thanks for the info, I'll read that thread on V8Buick. No worries or apologies needed. Its all related to my thread here. I'm not picky about getting side tracked.

Yeah I have same issues with tire clearance. The 64/65 Skylarks are tight on rear tire clearance. Like you guys I am hoping to be able to use 295s on the rear. It will depend on how much I can gain without cutting into the frame.

I suck at documenting this stuff, and the car is in storage 200 miles away right now, but here is the best picture I have of the clearance.

Thanks Oldgoat for the pic....

I was completely surprised to see the FedEx guy walking up my sidewalk yesterday with a big box from Hedman/Hustler... Hell, I didn't expect the headers till late next week. Of course me being me, I ran out to the garage to see how they fit. The passenger side "fit" but its damn tight between the frame and a little "ear" that sticks off the side of the transmission. The "ear" is a bolt holt for mounting the inspection cover on the bottom. The driver side doesn't fit. I can get the bolts started but can not completely bolt the header flange up against the head because it is again hitting a "ear" that sticks out for mounting the inspection cover. This is an easy quick fix, I just have to cut off the "ears" that are sticking out causing the fitment issue. FYI..these are the mid-length headers. I went with the mid-length because I have 2" lowering springs and want as much ground clearance as possible. Of course I was hoping they would just drop right in with no problems, but we all know that isn't always the case. I'm still very happy with the headers. They have nice thick flanges, are welded nice and have a nice looking polished ceramic coating. Check out the pics...

Yep, that was an easy fix! Just a little trimming was all that was needed. The headers fit really nice now with ample room on each side.

I don't see O2 bungs on the headers, remember to add these to the head pipes you have fabricated.

Good eye...
I have them. The headers also came with collector extenders that include the bungs for O2...they just dont weld them in, they leave that for you so that they can be placed exactly where you need them per your application.

That makes sense, and you can place them in a spot where you can reach them. Is the car going to be ready for Good Guys Columbus this year?

Not even close...I am ordering exhaust today http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mp...iew/make/buick

And then I'll order my 9" rear end and disc brake set next week or so. I have a hell of a lot of work to do yet. I cant make money fast enough to finish the car! Being realistic, I'm sure I have another 1 1/2 years left, maybe two. You never know what life brings so we'll see. As long as I can keep pluggin away at it and make forward progress, I'll be happy.

*UPDATE*FYI...I just found the same exhaust kit here, so I ordered it from them instead, they had 20% off AND free shipping! http://performancetruckproducts.com/...FbAWMgodG2gAoQ

I will have some in a few days. I got the Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust hung on the car, but not hooked up to hedders yet. Not a lot to report, been fighting a cold, working and watching Sons Of Anarchy. The guys I work with got me hooked on the show so I spent a couple days watching the first two seasons...

I'm working on getting the fuel system together. I'm running a sumped stock style tank w/ external Walbro 255 pump, I have the WIX 33733 filter/regulator and all the -AN 6 fittings also, even a fuel shut off valve. I'd like to start mounting the pump and filter/regulator to the frame and start running some plumbing but I'd like some suggestions/advice on where to mount them. I dont need to know where to mount them EXACTLY just some guidelines. For example, should I keep the pump and reg closer to the tank, closer to the engine, pump close to tank and reg close to engine, etc, etc. Where abouts have you folks mounted yours?

On my car I just installed the Dirty Dingo 5" power steering pulley. I am also going with the Powerbond 25% under drive pulley/balancer. I will also be upping the idle rpm to around 750rpm. So hopefully everything will balance out.

With the Kwik A/C compressor relocation bracket I am trying to shorten the length of my serpentine belt and try and gain a couple of HP while I am at it with the underdrive pulley.

Electric pumps as a rule are designed to push not pull the column. They like a gravity fed "head" of fluid to maintain prime. This dictates that the pump be mounted at a point at least level with the bottom of the fuel tank. Remember in an efi the filter goes on the "out" side of the pump.

Thanks OldGoat... That tells me I'll mount the Walbro pump closer to the tank and then plumb in the filter/reg AFTER the pump. I planned on mounting the pump to the frame. And to help maintain a little head pressure from the tank, the pump will actually sit a small amount lower than the tank, which should be perfect.

So I have the fuel pump and filter/regulator mounted and some fuel lines ran. I've been buying -AN fittings like they're going outta style...these things will nickel and dime you to death. I ran -6 AN hose over the back frame and I'm connecting that to 3/8' aluminum hard line to run up the side frame rail. I got the Magnaflow exhaust hung for the most part. I just need to hook up to the hedder collectors. I want to wait till I have the wheels/tires I'm gonna use first so I can check ground clearance.

Hot damn! The UPS guy(my best friend lately) just showed up again with more -AN fittings
Tomorrow the Wilwood D-52 calipers I ordered should show up http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wi...91-r/overview/
I decided to swap out my stock type cast iron front calipers with the Wilwoods...they are lighter, look a lot better and perform much better too.
And this is my rear disc brake set up...http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wil-140-2118-dr
