should i attemp the swap? hi i have a 90 toyota pickup its a 4x4 22re standerd that i would like to put a 6.0 in. so i talked to two shops and was told that it would cost 10,000 to do the swap and that's not including the cost of the motor or trans. does that sound right? i would like to try to do the swap myself but i have never done one before. would i be way over my head attempting this thanks for any input.
10 grand is steep especially considering no motor or trans is included. Get your parts list together and tally up what that will all cost. Like blue said he did it for 3k. Depends on how involved the fab work gets and if there are any swap kits for your truck.
If you want it done and have 1/2 a brain you can do it yourself. You will also save a ton of $$ and therefore can justify putting in a healthier combo 
A stock 6.0 with an upgraded cam/springs/headers/ported TB and a tune should make an easy 400rwhp.

Where are you located.. I need to move there and start doing swaps !!.. LOL $10k is a lot.. if you travel some, you might save more than a few grand....
Anyway.. less Skill and Knowledge = more $$$. But learning is a good thing.
The good news, many have done the swap.. I know many Rock Crawer are using LSx engine. There is a lot of information out there to help, Forums and Book are cheap, do your research!.
Also, Mounts, adapters, wiring harness, ECM Tunes, misc parts can all be found on the cheap or high end kits and parts can brought from many vendors. Everything you just about need is being marketed now adays.. Just have to have the Cash.
