Default Need your opinion

I'm in the planning stage of my next project to begin real soon.

The project is a mid-seventies Chevy pickup. It will be a daily driver and tow vehicle for my boat. I do not plan on any racing so I don't need high performance. The truck will have a 5-spd manual transmission.

My question is - Is there any reason to shy away from the LC9 (5.3L Flexfuel motor). I do not intend to change the rest of the truck to flexfuel or to use E85 fuel.

What's your opinion? Be nice!

I dont see any reason to. The harness injector connectors are different but other than that, if it's a good deal, it's a good deal! My 2 cents.

I used an L59 flex fuel motor in my 442 DD. No E85 near ne, so I just left out the fuel composition sensor.

You've been a member on here for almost 6 1/2 years and this is your first post? Id never remember my password after that long! But anyway, as the others have said, go for it. No reason not to use that engine. I've used them before, no real difference at all.

My wife said that I needed to completely remodel the house before I could go out and play!! It took that long to finish that project... can't imagine how long it will take to do the truck.

Thanks for the input, Guys!!

Well I don't know how llong it will take you, but id say you're entitled to at least 6 1/2 years before she can start to complain! good luck with your build.

I agree...go for it. I'd love to do a LS swap in a mid 70's Chevy truck. Wish I still had one.

If you are doing a simple swap, shouldn't take too long, took me about 4 months to collect all the parts and rewire the harness to do a N/A swap in my Chevelle. Only took about a week to put in the car and make run. Still working on the turbo setup though!
