Default Project Blue ***** // Fairmont

After doing a budget 5.3 swap into my 81 Malibu, and doing some work on friend's cars that are ls powered, I wanted to build something low key, yet still fun on a budget. I was really happy when I saw Denmah make the thread about the fairmont with junkyard vortec motors and boosting the **** out of them (and also answering a lot of questions). I have had had this pos fairmont for a while now and I'm ready to make her dance. Something about building a sleeper makes me happy.

Plans for the car:
Junkyard 4.8/5.3 / On3 76mm turbo / TH400 / 8.8 2.73 Gear

I will be picking up the TH400 here soon locally, that's all that I am missing..

I have two 5.3s in good shape, and a 4.8 shortblock so I'm not afraid to boost this thing until it blows!

Here is Project Blue *****:

Actually I think they do lol

This one will be getting a 255/60/15, but I was thinking about painting some white walls on it to throw the untrained eye off. Wheels I plan on running are some steel wheels or ten hole stang wheels. Both make decent sleeper wheels!

Old 200 I6/Auto is out. I went to drive it to the grocery store (yes the grocery store lol) and it wouldn't crank. Threw another battery had in it, still nothing, hit the starter, still nothing, took a screwdriver and jumped starter terminals, just buzzed, took starter wire off and jammed it to battery with key turned, still nothing, so I said **** it and went ahead and yanked the motor out lol

Artistic shot!! lol

This week I'm going to pull the crossmember and all front suspension and put the 01 GT stang k member in with hopefully no fitment issues. I already have some UPR LSx >> 4.6 adapter mounts (I got the kmember and mounts dirt cheap) or else I would have just ghetto fabbed them to work. Since I have a 4.8 shortblock all disassembeled it will make it easier to make sure all the mounts line up.

I'm also still waiting on my transmission. It is currently in a motorhome that a friend is parting out, so I have to wait for his lazy *** to pull it for me to modify this fox body / th400 transmount I have (wont need much, just the mounts are about 2 inches narrow than a mustang. After the trans is in I can measure for a driveshaft

While I am waiting for parts, I am going through this 8.8 rear end. For now it will be mostly stock, fresh Trac-loc unit, going to open it up and check the ring and pinion to make sure it looks ok. New carrier and pinion bearings, seals and brakes.

Dropping a complete k member with brakes, shocks, spindles and steering rack together really sucks *** by yourself. I just zipped the bolts out and let her fall lol

This k member is 01GT mustang k member, fit pretty good where the two larger bolts in the spring bucket go into the frame rail, but the two smaller bolts in the back needed to be elongated a hair to make fit. Still much easier than having to make my own mounts as I have the LS >> 4.6 Mod motor conversion mounts.

It feels kind of wired not taking everything apart, cleaning pieces up and painting them and making it all nice under the hood like I do my other cars. But this is budget ghetto grandpa go fast power, so **** it.
