Default People boosting 4.8-5.3?

How come you can throw a large amount of boost at the 4.8-5.3 without destroying your engine but the same amount on a stock LS1 will kill it?
Just looking for some knowledge.

Truck engines are a built a little more heavy duty! Iron blocks can handle the boost pressures better than aluminum.

Compression ratio is different. The lower ratio of the truck engines allows for higher boost pressures. I don't think the block becomes an issue until well beyond the power most people care to make.

the 4.8 has higher compression than the 5.3 due to having flat top vs dish pistons but is still the preferred engine to boost because of its short stroke/long rod , small bore ( leaves metal for a thicker block)

The current stock short block record holder used an Aluminum 5.3 liter motor.
