GEN IV engine with mech. clutch ? Hey guys, I've been searching on here and all over the net. I'm mating a beefed up, rebuilt Muncie to a GEN IV LS and I've been trying to find a Z-Bar bracket that will work with the engine. SDPC sells a bracket, but they say it will only work with a GEN V or VI block.
Anyone found or fabricated something that works for the Z-bar ball mount?

They say they didn't make it for Gen IV or below blocks.
I have a Quicktime bell housing and their bracket won't work with it. The edge sticks out too far.
I'm a welder, so I may try to fab something and weld it onto the bell housing.
I've heard the stories about hydraulic clutches, but the Keisler kit looks nice. They say it's rated for at least 30k miles... Well, site says "300,00" miles. So, I'm guessing they meant 30,000 miles. Not a lot, but as little as I will drive the car, probably take a few years to get that many miles on it. They claim it is designed much like a modern car's clutch system.
Should be way more header clearance with this than the mechanical linkage. Pricey though.

Have you looked at the Howe 82870? I'm about to grab one (they're ~ $110). Their website says "not for street use" so I called them and was told it's a liability issue and they've had units in service over 10 years.
