Default I really need a hug!!!

Hey guys I just thought I'd come back to this site with people that see things from my point of view. I'm catching all sorts of hell on one of the lightning sites for putting a L33 in a 94 cobra an LS1 in a 94 lightning. I mean come on who wouldn't want a car that runs low 6's to high 5's or a truck that makes 400 hp with 6 gears to play with an gets decent fuel mileage. Honestly I just like keeping the pot stirred over there.

The whole entire value of the original Lightning was that it could out-handle a '93 Mustang GT.
Wanna change the engine or trans? Fine. Wanna change, wheels, tires, shocks, anti-roll bars, bushings, ride height, or appearance? Sell the lightning and find a normal F150 to ruin.

Anyone seen or installed a lsx into a ford f150 ? Searched but no luck. My buddy is looking at a used 1994-ish model with a blown modular motor.

I know the feeling, a number of Corvette people think you shouldnt even change the radio channel because it left the factory on one particular station setting. Its your ride, enjoy it the way you like it.
You can tell them you are helping them out by making their "original" more rare and valuable.

You're right about that, corvette people are the worst. I got a TON of flak for putting a carbed 383 in my 85. It was really weird.

Enjoy it however you like! You can't take it with you! Let the next guy "restore" it if that's what they're into...

I'm sure if someone dropped a Ford into an F-body, many here would have the same reaction. Maybe just a little more perplexed.

I love 289's , 428 cobra jets and many other ford motors, but I put an LS7 in my Superformance (shelby) Cobra Daytona coupe. Reason ; it made sense. I have spent thousands on engines , and I couldn't be happier with my GM LS7. Ford's modern engines are nowhere near as friendly to use and their community is full of people telling you you are doing something wrong ( even if you are using a ford motor ) - I would have bought a new GT500 or a Boss 302 had the dealers not insisted on 10k over sticker for them, so I voted with my Dollar ; I bought a lemans blue z06- my second LS7, again couldn't be happier.

The way I look at it - LS engines are the best motors America has made since the 1960's era - they spawn creativity from low buck to high end , and the community is helpful- that is what American hot rodding is supposed to be about.

RX7 people are nuts about their rotaries. One of the funniest threads I have read about hot rodders vs. purist was a guy who put an LS motor in his RX7 and posted the whole build on an RX7 sight. He was taking no end of flack. But he raced the car and the results were pretty impressive. He ended the thread saying if any rotary powered guys want to get lapped to meet him on the track.

Cars are just massed produced consumer items. We are not dealing with Picasso here.
