BMW e34 Touring LS1 swap (BMW 5 series wagon)

Thanks
I have not driven on the road yet (which should get more air flowing in), but at my intakes location -- the area is cut out and feeds air directly from behind the airdam, fog lights and headlights. You can see the ground from there. Once I get sprayer bottle worked out I will dam off the filter to keep the heat out, maybe even an airbox.
I will look up the scangaugeII and check it out also.

With the intake where it is, high temps at idle will be normal. When mine was in the bay in that location, I was seeing 160 IAT on a warm day at a light. I have significantly cut down on temps since I moved it behind the fog light opening.
I bought a scangaugeII and love it!

I take my BMW temp gauge reading from the head and see temps on average of about 199F. Drops to 194 on a cold evening and can spike to 204 on hard driving. Gauge reads dead center regardless of driving conditions/temps.
Invest in that UltraGauge! After my radiator explosion/stupidity in New Jersey, I picked one up. It can read SO many functions realtime (updates 3-4x a second) including IAT, which can be useful for tuning your intake setup, not to mention MAF g/s, which is good for troubleshooting. At under $100 shipped (I used the windshield mount) it's a steal for what you get. Audible alerts are programmable as well; for example, if my coolant temp goes above 205F, my UltraGauge yells at me to cool it down with an audible beep.
In for burnout videos damnit! The motor looks so mean and low slung in there.

Oh yes the UltraGuage looks totally sick at it's price. Will order tonight.
Yes the motor is as low as it can go in there. Maybe too low. It is not the lowest point under the car, but there is not much ground clearance. Maybe 5 - 7 inches.
Burnout to come. Trying to figure out the trans fluid level. It was too low so the trans felt soft.
I am hoping the correct level with get it tightened up. I don't know much about auto transmissions. Right, now wishing for a standard.
Guess that is the next project after bushings in the rear

I think I may have vibration or hormonic issue in my driveshaft. My new rear seal is leaking now. Not sure if they are related, but I suspect so. I have not determined what rpm or speed take place at. It started at a high speed, but now I think it is at lower speeds too. I am no. I will have to do more investigation, but does anyone have any experience with something like this?
Thanks in advance for any info or ideas

What is your drive shaft angles? They should be very close to the same, less than 3 deg each and aligned like the diagram. Lots of Miata guys have trouble with this too and shim the trans or diff angle to fix it. It's easy to measure with a digital level or angle gauge but I just eyeballed it and gave it a couple washers under the nose of the diff and good to go.

I measured the angle of the output shaft only. So I thinking I am like number 3. I am going to go out and measure the relative angles between the yoke's joint and the center bearing's joint.
This going to be interesting

I think I may have solve my vibration issue. My output flange was out of parallel with the diff input flange. I shimmed up the trans and it seems to have helped.
Thanks everyone for the great information.
