LOL. What Falcons? Do they have the team? LOL.
I will be rooting for the Saints against the Seahawks, but I do like the Hawks too.
Weather! It's supposed to get down to 15 degrees here tomorrow. Weather in Seattle is gray right now, but it ain't gonna be 15 degrees

THanks for the compliment on the wheels

Update on the car:
Friday my universal joint went out. As many may know the BMW universal joint is a non serviceable joint...so basically you need to by a new driveshaft. Well, that is a problem since mine is a custom driveshaft. I found one of the few shops in the country that will press out and recrimp the stock BMW universal joints here in ATL. The name of the shop is Drive Line Service of Atlanta. The say they will have the driveshaft done tomorrow with a new BMW universal joint and a new driveshaft CV joint. I guess this will good for another 215000 miles

Yup. I was lucky.
Once I found it, others were like "Check out Atlanta Driveline Services they are the ones to go to"

Even folks from outside this area were suggesting them.

Now the weather has turned super cold here, with a teaspoon of ice. I hope they can get to work on the driveshaft today.

Hi, my name is Martin, just found out about this community, while i was searching web for information about bmw e34

wanted to ask u, how did u manage to run RPM gaue in the cluster properly, i did swap on my e34 for m57 3.0 diesel engine from bmw e46, also changed the whole car wiring from LOW to HIGH to get CheckControl, everything seems working pretty much fine, just that RPM gauge is bit of a pain

I read out much about that, know which pin need to be wired, just the engine computer doesnt support that, so need to get to know the charakteristics of the signal from DME to cluster...
was thinking of using signal from hall camshaft sensor straight to cluster, while it has rectangular diagram, which seems a lot similar to a stock crankshaft sensor wired to DME

any advice will be much appreciated
thanks a lot

it's a very simple solution for my swap
The LS1 PCM runs a 4 cylinder signal. My tach was a v8 tach, so it needed to be programmed to run a v8 signal.

If I am understanding correctly. YOu have a BWM gas car with a diesel swap?

I am not sure about the differences between the BMW DME for diesel and gas. If they are both I6 engines, i am surprised that they both the diesel and gas don't use the same signal

actually the car was a former diesel car, just swaped new engine and also the wiring for whole car, so changed the low diesel wiring for high gas wiring to get checkcontrol
and yes it is a wiring from 6cylinder gas engine and the new engine is also 6cylinder but diesel, so cant use ignition coil as a signal maker

did u program the cluster just by coding with NCS

do u know the rpm signal characteristic, if it is square signal, or something different, that would help, dont know how should the signal going to cluster looks like

I had the GM PCM programmed…I didn't do it myself. Have you checked with the folks on http://www.bimmerforums.com?

I don't know the wave shape.

Check the Bimmer guys. I am sure those that have done Bimmer engine swaps have experienced this too

What is the tach doing. Is it reading too high?

This is a dumb question, but you have the wire diagrams for the diesel and the gas engines’ DMEs and car bodies’ wiring?

The Tach signal will have a number for the correct pin. You will need a good light and a magnifying glass, but go to the main umbilical and look at the pin numbers. What I did was targeted the correct pin and its wiring. I left a good length of wire from the pin, then cut and spliced in the tach signal wire from the GM PCM. I am thinking you can do the same with the diesel’s tach signal.

Are you saying the diesel didn’t have a tach signal output?
