Default LS2 Miata CAI Opinions Wanted

Hello,

As the title states I have LS2 Miata that I am debating whether or not there would be worthwhile gain if I install an LS7 factory air cleaner like this:

http://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/TimMSM/index.php?UID=19

VS. my custom intake:

- 4" tubing with stock MAF, but thinking of going LS3 card MAF
- If I keep this setup I would replace a 90* bend with a 45* for straighter run.
- Not pictured is a brake duct that feeds the K&N.
- Grabs air from the front of the car.
- Cone K&N which has more surface area than LS7.

I believe the 4" diameter is larger than any portion on the LS7 stock air cleaner. So does anyone see any benefit to be gained from installing the LS7 cleaner assembly? I am planning a cam install and want to dyno the optimal configuration. If you think the alternative is the better solution please explain.

The only benefit I could see running the corvette intake is that it looks clean as hell. The 4in intake kinda looks like an after thought. Personally I would go with function over form and stick with the current setup.

I also considered the Vette intake but didn't feel like cutting up the hood support and using hood pins. I ended up building a cold air box which is fed cool air from the drivers side fog light hole. Works pretty well and looks good too. If I sit still in traffic for a while it eventually gets heat soaked but once moving along temps stay within about 10* of ambient.

Here's a link to the build if you're intertested.

Thanks, for the responses. I think I am going to opt for function over form and save my money. I will tweak my DIY setup to straighten it up a bit and then monitor temps with the scangauge.
