Heads up on pumps , you can use a 3.8 v6 pump off 96-02 fbodies on the ls conversions , they have a remote resivor and a steel pulley , we have had aot of customers use them on their swaps , thought the info might be helpful

Ever heard of intermittent power steering issues with LS1 pumps. My steering cuts out randomly and most of the time it doesn't work. I'm thinking pressure relief spring sticking... Car is a 64 impala with LS1/4l60e has a Delphi 600 steering box with stock LS1 pump..
Any help is appreciated

Is it like locking up under throttle ? I got them on my Chevelle for a while. I added a cooler to the return line (from a 02 Z28) and that resolved it.. The newer Pump have a higher pressure rating as compared to the old pump and box.. excessive pressure might be causing the Heat.
you might try adding a cooler or adjusting the Relief valve/spring.

I dont think the bracket from a 3.8 would work, but a 5.7 bracket does. I got an aftermarket bracket from ebay for the f body acc. drives. I used a 3.8 pump, made a resivoir that sits on top of the pump. Right now the tank is at the anodizer, but I will post another pic when I get it back. Here is a pic without the tank.

A totally different option is to use a remote mounted Toyota MR2 Electric Pump/Res.

Got any information on what year(s) to use and what the pressure rating is? Is it a simple two wire hook up or is it more complicated? Are they expensive? Are they reliable (I don't follow Toyota stuff)? ...and finally, how big is it?

You can use just about any pump you want. Im using a northstar PS pump/res and S10 alt with my Techco build
The smaller shaft pumps like Fbodys use are almost 100% interchangeable. Common differences are the nipple pressed in for a remote res, and hole type. Threaded vs through
