Hey this is me, the Dyno owner. This thing is for real sure.
Didn't know I was on the forum with pictures of this engine.
On the Picture, first one is me, Chris, Brian and the owner of the Engine.
I think I have a video of it when we working on it on my face book site Christian LSX Nilsen. Ray is the best welding officer I have ever seen.
Checking up that video
Chris.[/QUOTE]

I hope you find that video! I want to hear that monster!

A brilliant project. I really admire the workmanship and skills required to create such a creature. But would you consider a more worthy candidate for the transplant? Rather than a 240Z, how about my Ultima GTR? They are designed for scads of Chevy small block horsepower (ok, this is not a small block any longer) but can handle north of 1,000 hp, have accommodated engines sizes like the BMW V12 and would be a perfect candidate for a mid-engine powerplant!
All true but I'm sure this build already has a well-funded home in the Z.
Congratulation nonetheless. I hope we can keep watching the evolution and completion of the project.

This is 'not' a good idea for a mid engined car for a few reasons, #1 being the transaxle cost. A transaxle will set you back a cool 20k to support the torque. Also, a ultima gtr, ffr or SLC would require a frame stretch to accommodate

Exactly! Also people need to understand that the BMW V12 engine is VERY short! Its abou the same length as a LS1!

Do u have a good recommendation for a dyno tune in Seattle area?

I don't think your shop limitations will last long when this engine is successful. I of course lust the v12, but I bet the v4 would be the biggest seller. I will be in town next week. Shop or not, I would love to come "verify" your existence.

Sorry guys, that's not my car, its just the body kit I am installing on mine right now (- gnose). I am in the garage working on it now! That black beauty does have an LS1 and can be found on reactionresearch.com along with several others.

There was supposed to be a goofy smiley face next to "verify". Keep up the awesome work!

Look at the space on a GTM, as awesome as they are, there is no way it would ever fit. A 240z is the perfect candidate. They are often looked down on by those that don't understand what monsters they can be with minimal expense and work. That's why I posted the pic of the black Z.

My Dads 280 just plain smoked a Porsche GT2 and he only has $15k ish in the car, including the car. I have repeatedly destroyed C6 Z06 with mine at about $12k total.....and I am not done.

Don't knock the Z!!!!

I got a built th425 in my garage that would work just fine, so send that LS V12 my way. I will put it in my Lambo Diablo Replica!

Its about 8" longer when I measure my V12 in my BMW 850i compared to the 5.3 I have in my garage, but that block to block. Theres even more lenght to the BMW V12 when you add in the distributors and accessories to the 5.3 waterpump/fan/ect. In fact it looks about 5" more so a total of 13" longer than a LS.....

Been really busy as of late! Here is where we are now.

We are 95% done porting the heads, while matching it to the intake plate.

V12 LS1 Build-ports1.jpg
V12 LS1 Build-ports2.jpg

We welded together the valve covers and did a light sandblasting on them

V12 LS1 Build-valve-cover.jpg

And we also did a light sandblasting on the oil pan

V12 LS1 Build-oilpan.jpg

We are going to finish porting the heads and finish the fab on the heads so that they are complete and ready to go. We also are going to work on the windage tray and oil pump pickup tube.

We diverted our attention for a brief moment and created a V4 crank.

We sent it off to one of our friends (who makes patterns) to take it and make a pattern of it.
