Default Grinding down grove on motor mount

I have an LM7 engine that will be going into a 63 Impala. I purchased some engine mount plates to make the engine work. The issue i have is that the stock engine mounts have a grove that needs to be grinded down so they can sit flush to the plates.

Has anybody else run into this?

Thanks

I recall when I was mocking up my Chevelle, I used some stock mounts and had to grind the bump on the back of it off..

When I got my EnergySuspension Poly Mounts, I drilled/cut a matching hole in the Adapter plate and left the bump in place.

Yes, I am referring to the bump on the back of the mount. I am goin to try some spacers and if that doesn't work then I will just grind down the bump.

I had to grind it down when fitting conversion mounts on my stock sbc mounts.

I elected to cut a hole in my Adapter. Most likely that bump was designed to be there for some reason.(could be a dumb one, but ?) removing it might degrade the strength of the mount (?).

Having a hole in the plate should not affect anything related to the strength of the adatper. Many of them on the market has the hole there.

just saying..

I ground mine down only for the purpose of not using the spacers that actually widened the mounting holes. I would think the weak spot in the clamshell would be the corners where the metal is formed over it might be thinner there. If you were worried about comprising the strength of the mounts. The mounts that came on my 91 k1500 were already flat and they also had a thin shim behind it.

Update: We went ahead and grinded down the hump on the engine mount and it sat flush.......but when we did a test fit on the frame the mounts aren't even close to lining up. There is a good 1/2 gap on both sides (holes were the two mounts meet). It looks like the plates from S & P are universal and not year specific.
