Default HELP!! oil pan for 3rd gen camaro ls swap

ok i recently purchased a chevy performance ls pan from jegs. its roughly 8in deep. does anyone know if this pan will fit in 3rd gen f body. was goin to use brp swap mount kit. any help or knowledge would be great. i kno brp says to use fbody oil pan, but this way was half the cost.

Thats going to hang around 2 inches or more lower than the crossmember. Get an F-body, Holley or Mast pan or you'll regret it later

It'll work, its the same thing as a LS1 oil pan. I bought the same kit and used it on my 89 IROC.

not same thing as fbody pan, not at all. :/
its a truck pan actually, will hang low. may scrape if ur car is lowered.
the ctsv pan isa prefect fit, better fit than the 98-02 fbody.
there are cheaper and better mounts than the brp imo

Its not a deep sump pan like the full size trucks use. It fit my K-member just fine and does not hang below it. I'll take some pictures tonight. It's shallow, works great.

The fbody pan is the best choice for the stock K-member at a depth of 5.5". Anything deeper is below the K-member

Go tubular K-member and anything shallow like C5/6 pans also work

I dont see how the CTS-V pan is remotely superior to the Fbody pan. The front needs to be super shallow to fit over the K-member. For reference a LS2/3 corvette pan is too deep in the front to fit a stock K-member. In addition, the cadillac sump is 1 3/4" deeper than the Fbody and as the pic above shows, the Fbody is dead even with the bottom of the K-member. Anything deeper than the Fbody which is 5 1/2" in the front sump area will definitely be below the K-member

Switching to a tubular K-member clears up room, so the front area can be deeper allowing C5/6 pans to be used but the super low profile pans are still required

i think mounts and mounts location used play a big factor.
i have few pans, batwing c5, c6,fbody,ctsv,old truck version,new truck lh8 version
i just liked the fitment of the ctsv over the fbody in my 3rd gen.
not saying the others wont work. i prefer the ctsv.pan in my build.

pocket got a good pic of the dimensions of the pans.

Here is a front shot of the 4th gen pan in my '91 Firebird. It is just above the crossmsmber.

and a side shot...

It is well protected at this height.

for the guys who have used to lh8 or the gm performance pan, what mount kit did you use. I was goin to use the brp kit but if there is something cheaper that works with that pan I would consider it.

Did you notch the back of your Kmember for that fitment? What mount setup are you running?

The GM Muscle car pan is nothing more than a LH8 / Hummer 3 oil pan. A truck pan, and well hang well below the cross member. The only way to use it without it hanging below would be to raise the engine, but usually when you do that , you well then run into transmission tunnel problems.

Do as the other have said, get a f-body, mast or Holley pan and you well be well ahead of the game.

Just my two cents.

I got the Spohn mounts through Hawks Third Gen.

I did not modify the crossmember but it was very close to hitting the pan.
I tweaked the mounts about 1/4" rearward to be safe. Now I can get my fingertip in there.
