You can go about it in a few different ways.
#1 Lunati rods and JE pistons will get you there if you deck the block.
They have a few different rod lengths and compression heights to make it work.
Cheapest way is bore a 4.8-5.3 block to 3.905
Run GenIV 4.8 rods with Manley Pistons #592007C-8.. Mahle makes a set that works too.
Run a stock 4.8 crank and have everything balanced and use the proper thickness of head gasket depending on your deck height.

And
The current motor is more stock than not...
Ive spun it to 7900 a few times but I set it down to 7000 till I can get it to hook.. And as far as the track I may run it this weekend not sure as I work to damn much and havent had much time this summer to get there.
I did pull the rear to find some broken gears have it all back together now and added disc brakes while I had it apart.

i have 68 swb stepside. that currently has a 383 i built w hump heads and summit cam. nothing fancy. prolly bout 420hp. just pulled the th350 and 3500 stall ciz it was jus too much for the truck. i got tired of the th350. dropped in a 700r4 w 2000 stall.
building the truck to be mostly cruiser. when i go ls, prolly just a lq9 w ls6 cam. dont need alot of hp. and go to efi.
what kind of suspension do you have to hold all that power and make it hook?
mine is only lowered 2.5 inches.
badass truck im sure it moves out with the tt. mine feels overpowered w the sbc.
props

Rear disk setup came from Toms classics off ebay. Its s10 calipers, chevy 1500 4x4 rotors and brackets ect. I cant remember what brand the fuel cell is its just a 20 gal. aluminum rear sump with -10 fittings.

And it does not hook up at all. if you spool it up at 70mph tires are gone.. And this truck has had 5 different motor trans. combos in it since I built it haha.. I constantly want something different..
