I have a walbro (says walbro in metal) 255 inline and a vette filter/regulator combo it is a cheapo from ebay mounted after pump my pump squeels off and on while running then dies it will start right up again and repeat is regulator causing this or pump problem? also the fuel filter/regulator in correct spot I know I don't need it but it was just laying around and made the return line easier all this is in a 69 c10 stock 4.8 4l60. I watched the video, and I've never heard one do that. Have you put a guage on it to see if the pressure changes with the noise? I suppose it could be a bad pump. Not sure if there are bearings in them or not but that's kind of what it sounds like.

If and when u break down fuel system, install a cheap inline filter BEFORE walbro pump. One they get crap in them say goodbye. Trust me. I bought a jegs brand #6 in/out aluminum inline filter.

You need a 100 micron filter in front of the Walbro pump, and a 10 micron after it. I've gotten away with 70 microns in front (Walbro remote pickups).

Make sure your pickup isn't sucking air.

Do not use cheap filters.

Cheap as in parts store stuff with unknown micron ratings. The aluminum inline ones with removable screens are just fine, I use them too.

Truck rails with the return have a regulator built into them, but you say you're using the Vette filter/regulator. Do you have a returnless rail? Maybe your filter/regulator is bad, I've seen cheap ones be bad right out of the box. I use AC Delco or Wix only.

Im using a truck rail it has 2 lines 3/8 and 5/16. What is a returnless rail would it only have one line? I have heard about cheap filter/regulators being no good but i figured the only thing i needed it to do was give a place to return unused gas it would be ok even if the regulator part did not work i figured the one on truck rails would still work. How about the napa vette filter and luck with those(theres a napa close to me and no wix dealer)

If your fuel rail has two lines you don't use the corvette filter. You use inline filters and just run the return from your fuel rail right back to the tank.

What he said. And when you ran the guage did you deadhead the pump into the guage or was it "T"'d into the system so the regulator was still working to let excess fuel go to the tank?

I hooked guage on passenger side port where guage screws on. I eliminated the vette regulator/filter and ran return to tank have around 50-58 psi while running and pump just has a light hum to it. its a lot quieter than the holley blue pump I had on my cummins truck I had!

The Holley Blue a friend had on his Cummins was awful. I have a FASS 95/150 on my '02 and I can just barely hear it at idle and only with the radio off.

Walbro's are pretty quiet when they're operating properly.
