Default Harness Pinouts

Anybody have a pinout on changing a harness over from drive by wire to drive by cable? Does it just have to be repinned and then the ecm flashed or is there more to it than that?

add IAC circuit (maybe TPS circuit too), I dont know if you have to reflash a new OS or just change ETC settings

I had just asked LT1 Swap.com this very question. Here is the response I got:

Yes it could be added. however. The 1999-2002 drive by wire parts are harder to find, and can be VERY expensive. Your best bet would be to use a 2003+ blue/green computer & harness that already has drive by wire in it.

So could a person add the wires to the harness for the TAC? Or does it need to be a different computer? I have a 99 truck computer now. Sorry to be so persistent on this, but I haven’t seen any real threads on this. I do appreciate your time and expertise.

Yes drive by wire would probably look better if that is the case.

But in order to get cruise on a cable setup I would have to run the separate cruise module on the firewall. I was hoping to avoid that if at all possible. I think the drive by wire would be a cleaner install. Your thoughts?

You can get a cable throttle body for the LS3 intake, there are brackets available for ls3 intake with cable throttle.

You could use the 2003+ drive by wire, throttle body still won't fit the intake, will need an adaptor to go to the 92mm 4 bolt flange.

Subject: LT1 Swap.Com Question

Hello,

First of all I want to say THANKS for posting this information. It has helped me out a TON!

I kind of put the cart before the horse in my swap  I have a 99 LQ4, wire harness, and computer. I bought a set of l92 heads and LS3 intake. This does not have a provision for a throttle cable on it. I would like to use DBW so I can also have cruise control. I did find this page on your site: http://www.lt1swap.com/cable_conversion.htm

Can I go the other route from cable to wire? If not, do I need to get a new harness from an 03 to 07 with a 24 tooth reluctor ring engine, TAC, and computer?

Also just a fyi this is going into a 66 Pontiac LeMans with a 80mm turbo and 4L80e.

Thanks!

Steve

Really? Could you provide some links? I found several sites going from DBW to DBC but not the other way around.

If you have already been to LT1swap and cant find what you need there, idk where to tell you to go. If you are doing your harness yourself there is plenty of info on that site to get it done. You will need a different os swapped into you ecm to make it work.

So you are saying you can't provide the links you are refering to?

All on c2 green, assuming you have a blue green ecm. An express van can be used for the base cal.

You are correct. the way I understand it you would have to get a 03-07 harness and computer to do DBW.

The original post from 'Stormed Norm' asking about Drive By Wire TO cable throttle,

The info I do not cover was asked by 'Not A Z' wanting Drive by Wire FROM a cable throttle harness.

The drive by wire system only has TWO wires that connect between the PCM and the TAC module. These are two data communication wires on pin 14 and 15 of the BLUE pcm connector that go to the TAC module.

The wiring to the throttle body all goes directly to the TAC module. The wiring to the GAS pedal goes directly to the TAC module. Then you have 4 wires used for cruise control from TAC module. 2 more wires, Power & Ground.

So you either are going to have to have a wiring harness to strip these connectors and wires out of to add to your current harness, or build the needed wiring from scratch, ordering new connectors, terminals, and all. I don't have any of those part numbers documented. Usually I'm going the other way around, removing DBW for cable throttle.

You need to add the circuits for the throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. On top of that your PCM must be able to support cable throttle control. Some PCM's 2003+ do not have the required stepper motor chips installed. Look for following service number pcm's.

2003: 12576106, 12581565 and a Reman part# 89017733
2004: 12586243
2005-07: 12589462, 12602801

The few vehicles with DBW form 99-02 use the SAME pcm as trucks with cable throttle. So only harness changes and programming needed for these years.

Since I don't know what year your current harness is, there are multiple locations for LOW REFERENCE and 5 VOLT REFERENCES. Different years and applications were different, it really doesn't matter which one you use. The blue/green connectors reference the 2003+ PCM. If yours is a 99-02, it will be BLUE/RED, but pin location in RED & GREEN is the same.

DESCRIPTION PCM PLUG / PIN LOCATION

LOW REFERANCE BLUE PIN 23 or 60 or 63 all low references
5 VOLT REFERANCE BLUE PIN 7 or 8 or 45 or 46 or 47 all 5v references
TP SIGNAL GREEN 24

WIRE - IAC PIN # DESCRIPTION PCM PLUG / PIN LOCATION

LT GRN/BLK PIN A IAC COIL B LOW GREEN PIN 77
LT GRN/WHT PIN B IAC COIL B HIGH GREEN PIN 76
LT BLU/BLK PIN C IAC COIL A LOW GREEN PIN 78
LT BLU/WHT PIN D IAC COIL A HIGH GREEN PIN 79
