Tell me I can do it
To be honest, pulling the BMW engine isn't my main concern. It's swinging the LSx/T56 several times while I get things worked out. I don't know if this will pan out but depending upon the donor car and the condition of its drivetrain; there is a shop in town that specializes in German cars. Perhaps, I can have the shop remove the engine in exchange for keeping the engine (and maybe throwing in a few bucks) and bringing the car back to my house on their flat bed. From what I've been told, the stock drivetrain isn't worth too much, unless it's an "M." Just a thought.

Most any shop will want some cash. HAGGLE WITH THEM!
Most shops do NOT just simply pull it out and haul it to you.
talk to the manager and the mechanic. Explain quite clearly that you want things DISCONNECTED PROPERLY, not cut and ripped and blowtorched!!!

I must say, for doing a hand tool job, good idea. for a job like this using power tools, air compressor, and possibly a welder, bad idea. Unless he buys a generator that is 5000 watts or higher.. Than he has to risk being griped at for using the generator, or risk someone pulling a drive by and stealing it right out from under his nose.
