T56 shifter position in a C3
I was reading an article in Vette magazine about putting a T56 in a C3 and it said that their transmission was modified by Keisler to provide correct shifter position. Did any of you have any trouble with shifter position? I'm not going to buy my transmission from Keisler, so is shifter position a major issue I'll have to deal with?

It comes up about 1" back and 1 1/2" over to the passenger side. I just left it there and built a new custom leather boot. Most of the T-56 guys are making brackets to relocate the shifter handle.

It depends on which motor mount brackets you use. Buddy used a copy of the S&P ones, I have a modified version that pushed the motor forward a little bit. I'm going to machine a space block to go at the base of the shifter handle to space it over 1 7/8" and back ~3/4" to come up right thru the stock console.
Others have just welded a spacer on to the stock LS1 shifter.

So are you saying that the shifter comes up a little further back and about in the middle of the console? Do you have anything on the side of the shifter like a shift pattern or is the whole area just covered with a boot?

I did what Scooter did and moved the engine forward slightly. The shifter was then lined up front to rear with the opening in the console, but still came up through the middle. I then cut the top off the stock T56 shifter right below the flat spot then welded a spacer between the T56 shifter and the stock 4 speed handle. Everything fits under the console and the shifter uses the stock boot. If you don't move the engine forward, you can still use this design, just adjust the spacer until the handle comes up where you want it to.
